Leica Summicron 35mm lens - which version is this?
trisberg replied to danimeep's topic in Leica M Lenses
No, this lens in the picture is a Summicron 35mm ASPH v1 which replaced the Summicron 35mm v4. It is a very good lens with the same optics as the current version. -Thomas -
Question about the Zeiss 25/28mm external viewfinder
trisberg replied to Leicalott's topic in Leica M-A / M7 / MP and Film M
If you want a really great 28mm finder, take a look at the Nikon DF-CP1 finder. It's pricey and not that easy to find now, but it is light weight, bright and has great eye relief. It was originally sold with the Nikon Coolpix A camera but works just as well for framing with a Leica M. -Thomas -
My wild guess is first is "35mm summicron asph v1", second is "35mm summicron v3",and third is "35mm summilux asph fle v1" -Thomas

Well, I'm glad you did share it. I found it really enjoyable and interesting and I would agree with your criticism of the new SR. Watching the video made me go back and review my own results with the SR "re-issue". Stopped down it works great for me, but I'm not sure yet what to make of the results wide open. It's easy to avoid 1.4 on digital but it might come in handy with film in low light with limited ISO options. I'll have to shoot more film with it to get a feel for the results. I'm Sharing a couple of wide open shots on an M10 from Boston this summer. Thomas

For me it is the reissue combo - M6 (2022) plus Summilux SR reissue. -Thomas

Building a kit around the 35 Steel Rim Reissue
trisberg replied to JoshuaRothman's topic in Leica M Lenses
A bit more affordable set would be TTArtisan 28mm f5.6 Voigtländer Nokton 35mm f1.4 ii Zeiss C-Sonnar 50mm f1.5 All excellent and IMO interesting lenses. -Thomas -
I like the angled lever as well, but it can easily be swapped out for a different style, so IMO not a deal breaker by itself. -Thomas

I've only seen it mentioned here that the circuit board can not be replaced since they don't have spares. I have no first hand knowledge of this. Other issues with the camera should be repairable. Just look out for bubbling Zinc tops. -Thomas

Buying new, IMO the M6 is better choice since it has the angled rewind crank. I always thought it weird that they went back to the M2/M3 style rewind knob after so many years of using the angled one with a lever. The M6 is also a few hundred less, at least here in the US. The only reason I can see for the MP is the black lacquer paint which I personally don't really like, it is too shiny for me. I know this is all down to personal preferences, at least we have multiple options now. -Thomas

Leica M6 2022 frame lines size set for 2m?
trisberg replied to trisberg's topic in Leica M-A / M7 / MP and Film M
I just like the more generous frame lines in the M10 and M4-2 and earlier and was curious if they went back to setting them for 2m in the new M6 which the specs indicate. It's not a deal breaker, just a personal preference, especially for the 50mm frame. -Thomas -
Leica M6 2022 frame lines size set for 2m?
trisberg replied to trisberg's topic in Leica M-A / M7 / MP and Film M
Thanks everybody for chiming in. I did suspect that this was cut-n-paste specs. I don't think the M6 has a sensor - "at 2 m: the exact sensor size of approx. 23.9 x 35.8 mm". Would be cool if someone with thew new M6 could do a quick check against an M with a known frame line configuration. -Thomas
