fenykepesz Posted Monday at 11:02 PM Share #3 Â Posted Monday at 11:02 PM nop, not at all - though in theory it would make sense with 60MP.
dscdsc Posted Tuesday at 12:00 AM Share #4 Â Posted Tuesday at 12:00 AM IBIS is a nice to have but not required. been shooting without it for a few decades now.
Kiwimac Posted Tuesday at 12:17 AM Share #5  Posted Tuesday at 12:17 AM (edited) It’s useful but not essential.  It would be an impressive feat of engineering to cram it into an M body I think.  That is the one restriction that Leica have that most other companies don’t: Leica cannot change the M basic form. Compare Hasselblad and the X2D: It’s a fabulous camera  to use because they could design it from scratch without trying to keep it within the accepted dimensions of a historic camera. The available solution - to mount M glass on an SL - is available for those who want it. Edited Tuesday at 12:17 AM by Kiwimac
jakontil Posted Tuesday at 01:35 AM Share #6 Â Posted Tuesday at 01:35 AM Nope and never miss one on M.. i had the X2D with a great ibis..the only thing i miss over it was the ability to shoot handheld at 2s..
SrMi Posted Tuesday at 02:11 AM Share #7 Â Posted Tuesday at 02:11 AM Advertisement (gone after registration) Yes and no. The M without IBIS works fine and is an excellent photographic tool, much better than some other cameras with IBIS. However, adding IBIS would allow longer exposures in some instances, which would be beneficial in low light. When I plan to shoot Sensorio at night, I cannot use the M11. hillavoider Posted Tuesday at 02:58 AM Share #9  Posted Tuesday at 02:58 AM of course it has, with 60mp its a constant compromise, its not that some people have magical hands and technique, its just facts and physics same issue with fuji 100mp RF
jhonzatkl Posted Tuesday at 05:39 AM Share #10 Â Posted Tuesday at 05:39 AM Yes, for me it's a downside. I have to use much faster shutter speeds to ensure I get sharp images.

RF’sDelight Posted Tuesday at 10:26 AM Share #13  Posted Tuesday at 10:26 AM No. And also 24 MP were sufficient. 😎
lct Posted Tuesday at 11:59 AM Share #14 Â Posted Tuesday at 11:59 AM Obstacle to slow shutter speeds here. I don't use my M11 for speeds slower than 1/(2f)s. I kept my M240 for that. Not a huge issue but the M11 is the first M since the 50s to suffer from that. It has excuses but i won't buy the M12 or a possible EVF-M if Leica doesn't fix this issue with IBIS or otherwise. YMMV.

Image stabilisation when you have good  enough high iso, at the price of bigger body with higher energy consumption  doesn’t make any sense to me. Just keep 1/2 focal length as minimum shutter speed and compensate with film speed. Main reason for me to stick with leica is that it gives you access to essential controls to make a picture, no extra programs, countless buttons, maze-like menus. You may call me a luddite radical but I believe there’s room for some more cuts in D line

If I want sharpness at the pixel level, I use 1/2f for 24MP and 1/4f for 60MP.
PeterKelly Posted Tuesday at 03:06 PM Share #19  Posted Tuesday at 03:06 PM Yes At 76 years old my hands are not as steady as they once were. I compensate by using high shutter speeds which obviously limits low light shooting. If IBIS could be incorporated in future M bodies without much change in size and layout I would be a happy camper
