paulscr Posted May 26 Share #1 Posted May 26 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi - since 2.2.3 firmware upgrade on my m11m - after downloading photos from internal storage (I don’t use separate ssd) to iPad (via Lightroom) - when I restart camera - I get a “internal memory full” message. this has been my workflow for a couple of years (with m11). only fix is to format storage (deleting all photos doesn’t work). Note: I get the error, even with about 20 photos taken I’ve done the usual resetting camera. (note- I have posted similar message on other posts - but felt this deserved its own post - in case others have the same issue)

Derbyshire Man Posted May 26 Share #4 Posted May 26 Yes, I’ve been getting this on the M11M and M11D. It was an issue introduced around about 2.2.1 or so for me.

Smogg Posted May 27 Share #6 Posted May 27 Using the internal memory on the M11 is a game of Russian roulette. Leica has never been able to completely fix the file system issues. It's better to use an SD card if you value your photos. 4
lct Posted May 27 Share #7 Posted May 27 Advertisement (gone after registration) Never got the least problem with this Russian roulette since 2022. My bullets must be blanks i guess 😄
250swb Posted May 27 Share #8 Posted May 27 Fortunately formatting in camera is what you should do to delete images after downloading your pictures.
paulscr Posted May 27 Author Share #9 Posted May 27 I’d rather Leica fix the issue especially given it’s been fine for the last two years.

lct Posted May 27 Share #11 Posted May 27 A roulette that doesn't kill in 3 years use and 10k+ shots is more like a wheel of fortune than Russian roulette if you ask me 🎡

The day my M11 arrived I immediately chose to use the camera’s internal memory. And after shooting about a dozen images I received a prompt about internal memory being full. I too formatted the internal drive, then switched to writing to the SD card. I’ll only use the internal memory when there is no other option. Lesson learned.
J S H Posted May 28 Share #14 Posted May 28 Agreed that the internal memory is problematic. I used mine without issue for 2 years, but then got a few memory full and formatting errors. Switched to SD and no problems since.
lct Posted May 28 Share #15 Posted May 28 Strange having no problem for 2 years and suddenly formatting and/or other SSD issues. May i ask how often you format your SSD folks? Just curious .

I’d had no problems with my M11D as I was just doing deletes, I started formatting and the issues occurred. Could be a total red herring however. for the avoidance of doubt I remove all of the images after each days shooting.
lct Posted May 28 Share #17 Posted May 28 Strange... I format my SSD each time i do the same with my SD cards. Zero issues in 3 years..I have an early M11 though not an M11D...

Tuan Anh Posted June 3 Share #20 Posted June 3 I have already emailed Leica Customer Service with photo evidence of the “Internal Memory Full” bug. Firmware version 2.2.1 seemed stable, though it had occasional issues connecting to the FOTOS app.Firmware 2.2.2 and 2.2.3 are significantly worse, them both exhibit the same “Internal Memory Full” issue, with 2.2.2 being the most problematic. Can you guys please report this to Leica as well ? Giving them pressure to permanently fix this issue. It’s really unacceptable.
