Only the ground (matte) side of the focusing screen was at the image plane. Everything else like fresnel lenses, overlays, framing guides, information displays, etc., was slightly above or below. To be fair, I doubt most people even noticed. Camera jockeys would tell you to set your diopter so that the Fresnel was sharp, or maybe the speed display, because it was easier to explain. Besides, I'm sure half their customers couldn't see the fine-grained ground glass pattern if they tried. This all became moot in the AF zoom era, when focus screens were engineered to be bright, but have no bite. This helped disguise the inaccuracies of autofocusing systems, but it was extremely frustrating to those of us who focused manually. Back on topic: the rumoured EVF M-mount camera should have an adjustable diopter, even though rangefinder M-mount cameras do not. Wasn’t so with Nikon the framelines and guides were etched into the ground matte side facing the mirror as were the other focusing aids. The ground matte side facing side was noth smooth over the aids so they had to live on that plane surely

student Posted October 6 Share #2904 Posted October 6 Unless the photograph of the Wetzlar facility posted earlier, with the notice that a "surprise" is in the manufacture stage is a fake, surely we can expect a new product soon? That does not speak to either the date of release or the type of product it might be though

Or has that already changed? love the post saying the end of rangefinder lol. Then the friend of a friend of a friend who knew someone is pretty funny i love to ask those who speculate if they knew a Q3-43 was coming ahead of the announcement! it would be interesting to see a truly dual system ie rangefinder and evf, and real one not just like the digital patch Fuji have. Till then if I need crazy focus accuracy there’s always closing down a stop or use the visoflex 2! Is the release announcement date speculation too? Absolutely, with AF and IBIS too. Guaranteed! 1
wilfredo Posted October 6 Share #2907 Posted October 6 Advertisement (gone after registration) The launch date is nearing, and it’s very exciting. It could very well be my next Leica purchase when it comes in a Monochrom version.

It's unfortunately out of print, but it lays-out the pros and cons of all of the then-current viewing systems, and will teach you more than you thought was possible about cameras in general. FrozenInTime Posted October 6 Share #2913 Posted October 6 If it is a shutterless Q3-M with the 60 Mpixel sensor, like the Sigma FpL only adding an EVF, that sounds a bit short of expectations 😞

la1402 Posted October 6 Share #2916 Posted October 6 Rumors and speculation are fun and no live will turn in a different direction whatever is or isn't announced at October 23rd.🤫 When the first rumors started, I asked to put my name on a wish/waiting/dreamlist at my local Leica Store. The Store manager did that smilingly, but without any comment. I don't know what his smile meant. It could just mean "oh here comes another one of those dreamers". Or it means "Great, sales pipeline for autumn!" The next rumor may have the QM/EVM/... slip to spring so I may actually never know, and that's ok. 😀

Well, the Dealer will know for sure what is coming, so I would call them and ask what number you are on the list and see what response you get. Let us know.

lct Posted October 6 Share #2919 Posted October 6 Never understood what the Q, which is a fixed lens camera, has to do with whatever M-mount camera. Confusion seems to reach summits in this matter.
