I vote for MV1 then. M because of the M mount, V because of the built-in Visoflex, and 1 because it would be the first digital M sans RF the same way as the M1 was the first analog M sans RF.

The suggestion of  M-EV1 seems problematic, being rather close to the derogatory alternative for the mirrorless tag - EVIL ( Electronic Viewfinder Interchangeable Lens ).

I don’t like the windowless blank face of the rumored cameras. One thing that makes the M so iconic is the viewfinder windows that give the impression that the camera is looking at you and the world.

Yes, I agree, but this won’t be an iconic camera.  It will just be another mirrorless camera squeezed into a M body.

I’m sure Leica has done its market research and I’d love to know what this tells them.  I keep coming back to existing M users who need help with focusing.  That really is a niche within a niche.

I agree with this. For those needing help with focussing, the Visoflex is already the solution in my view.

But in reality, the community needs such a camera for spiritual cleansing. It will help separate the devout believers from the heretics who mostly use the Leica M with an external electronic viewfinder🤣

95% of the photos in the photo threads don’t take advantage of the unique capabilities of rangefinder focusing and reverse Galilean viewfinders. Also, Leica owners skew older. Fast, candid, reportage style photography is a young person’s game. We’re just trying to recapture youth.

And handicapped in relationship to other brands.

Or forgetting that the EVF M would be the first mirrorless camera dedicated to M lenses with no handicap whatsoever towards them and will all M11 capabilities bar the RF.

Leica will sell stickers with the windows on it…

Is there really a need for such an M camera on the market? It seems so, because without a well-estimated market share and sales, Leica wouldn't develop and launch such a new type of camera, would they? If there is an EVF-only M, it will be something like a full-frame CL or a Q with a bayonet — either way, it will obviously not have AF.

I’m still hoping for a unique feature that none of us has thought of yet (in a serious manner). Otherwise, it would simply be a cheaper (beginner?) version of something like a digital Leica M, with less fine mechanics and probably a higher margin for Leica, I guess.
