The Background Transfer function has been available for M11 cameras since the introduction of the FOTOS App v.5.0

The Leica product developers and we would now like to know:

What are your experiences with Background Transfer in the field?

In addition to the small questions above, w’d like to know:

  • Where do you see the strengths of the Background Transfer?
  • What could be improved in your eyes?

We look forward to your comments and are excited to hear your suggestions and ideas!

  • LUF Admin changed the title to Background Transfer Survey: Your Opinion?

I tried it for a bit and I can see why it might be useful for people, but I decided not to use it. It just fills my apple photos app with a lot of (smaller) jpegs that I rarely use, maybe once or twice it helped me be quicker sending a photo someone wanted. But as I normally don't use the JPEGs anyway and do some post processing on my computer before importing into my photo library, this functionality doesn't really prove itself useful to me.

I love the background transfer feature.. it didnt work initially.. but out of the blue, after a couple of weeks, it started working and when it worked,it just worked

for me it is quite useful.. though i always shoot raw and edit in LR for my other serious works.. but with my family documentation, i could just use the preview and share instantly

not sure if anything should be improved within the background transfer.. the use of bluetooth LE is perfect, the speed is great, and didnt hit either battery life

if there’s any request may be automatically preset to any of the preferred leica looks

Never used this. Am i supposed to vote "neutral"?

I imagine that the second question should be answered only in case you use background transfer in your workflow.

Or else you vote "very bad" in question 2 and therefore you do not use it (question 1).

It says "This field is required" when trying to answer question 1 only. Would not be fair to vote "very bad" then so i understand this survey is not for me. Won't hurt anybody if i keep quiet for once anyway 😄

Automatic transfer fills the phone with all my garbage shots. I have therefore selected the option to only transfer the “favorites” photos, these with a star. As I don’t have a lot of them, that’s ok… sad but ok 🙂

VOTE NEUTRAL

preserving highlight blowout and underexposing, the previews are not usable for immediate sharing!

I have it set to "Favorite", on the M11 image review a quick tab of the function button will transfer to FOTOS on the iPhone.

The Negative is the download option is simply not possible for my favorites after transferring a Preview file. Evendo the downloaded preview is labeled a preview and not JPG OT DNG.

you need to go back to image browse and filter favorite, select images, and perform download.

I didn’t realize you have it only transfer ‘favorites’ over, quite useful for this M11-D owner.

I used it once with the M11-D, but did not like all the pictures going into my iPhoto app. Might try it again on the M11-P and mono where I can set it to only transfer favorites.
