evikne Posted July 18, 2024 Share #1 Posted July 18, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) Even though the M11-D hasn't been launched yet, it's too late to make any wishes, as it's already in production and probably just waiting for a firmware update. But since we already have an idea of what to expect from the M11-D, what do you want from its future successor, the M12-D? Fold-out thumb rest, yes or no? How many megapixels? What kind of metering (or none at all)? Anything else?

FrozenInTime Posted July 18, 2024 Share #4 Posted July 18, 2024 <= 36 Mpixels High dynamic range global electronic shutter In viewfinder histogram; or at least LEDs for black and white level clipping.
costa43 Posted July 23, 2024 Share #5 Posted July 23, 2024 (edited) Design wise, a black chrome Leica MA with a digital sensor would be nice. I like black paint too but the mp is a bit too shiny so if that could be reduced a bit then great. I’d actually like the film advance lever to work the shutter for an even more organic experience. Low megapixel count is preferred, sub 30mp. No evf compatibility. ISO dial on the back. Built in memory, min 128gb. Closer focusing rangefinder would be amazing if physics allows for it. Instant or as close to start up and wake time. Edited July 23, 2024 by costa43
evikne Posted July 23, 2024 Author Share #6 Posted July 23, 2024 (edited) I love the idea of no meter at all, although I realize that this is not very realistic. But I was actually a little surprised the other day when I discovered that there is a meter on my M10 and that the arrows in the viewfinder show the exposure. 😅 (Of course, I knew that, but I hadn't looked at it for a long time and had almost forgotten it existed.) I'm sure the subtle sound of such a shutter would be fantastic. Near instant start-up and wake-up time. 24-36 very good megapixels is all I need, along with the best possible dynamic range. I also like the M10-D thumb rest and find it both very nice and useful. ISO dial on the back is great, and in line with the analog models. It would be great if the camera could be used completely independently of other devices. Simplicity is the key word! MaxGor Posted July 24, 2024 Share #8 Posted July 24, 2024 I have got M11 silver. I wish it was lighter and did not have ISO dial. Can not really think about anything else design related.
RF’sDelight Posted July 31, 2024 Share #9 Posted July 31, 2024 Silver chrome brass top The return of the fake lever, yeah! Monochrome sensor on demand ISO dial like the M2 film counter (or exposure compensation, not sure) I would instantly sell all my digital Ms and would live happily ever after. For color I would use the SL4. 😎

That's why it shouldn't have a meter. Then you only have yourself to blame. 😉
kiwidad Posted August 3, 2024 Share #13 Posted August 3, 2024 Only two things I would like… a shutter that is as silent as a film M and a built in eyepiece diopter1

oekoek Posted October 22, 2024 Share #17 Posted October 22, 2024 Maybe a M5 style shutter dial with the shutterspeed visible in the viewfinder. An Olympus OM3/OM4 type of spotmeter. 36 Mega pixels would do, for me and i never felt the need for an advanced sort of thumbrest.

Photoworks Posted October 22, 2024 Share #19 Posted October 22, 2024 there should be an M12-D in pink with glitter, and a back screen for the menu but no image. IBIS and better infos in RF, that few red characters are getting very limiting is the menu is in it. Konica Hexar RF infos or the Pixii are a suggestion.
