J S H Posted May 23, 2024 Share #21 Posted May 23, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) Updated my M11 via Fotos app with no issues. After the update, the camera seems to be a bit more responsive on power on/off, while connecting to computer for image transfer, etc. One bug that seems to be fixed is the playback issue of lowered resolution for every image after the first shot while reviewing the images in camera. I wasn't having corrupt or missing DNG issues, but I know some people were. I'm hopeful that Leica finally got things fixed.
Advertisement Posted May 23, 2024 Posted May 23, 2024 Hi J S H, Take a look here Did the May 2024 firmware update 2.1.1. solve your M11 freezing problems?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
SrMi Posted May 23, 2024 Share #22 Posted May 23, 2024 I am traveling, have no issues, and still decide to update via iPhone 😁. No issues. IIRC, previous updates required manual load of saved profile data. That is not necessary with the latest firmware. The reason I update is because not all fixes and improvements are being listed in the firmware description.
William K. Posted May 23, 2024 Share #23 Posted May 23, 2024 I've also updated both my M11 and M11-M using a SD card -- no problem with either firmware update. Both camera's profiles transferred successfully. Hopefully, this will prevent future image losses and camera freezes. Thank you Leica!!
tonybill Posted May 23, 2024 Share #24 Posted May 23, 2024 Just updated my M11 from 2.0.2 via the SD card and all went very smoothly with no problems. Everything is still working as it was with no need to reset anything. I was previously getting an occasional freeze, so will be interested to see if this has improved it! kkm Posted May 23, 2024 Share #25 Posted May 23, 2024 Updated the M11 and M11 Monochrom with the Foto App without any issues. Cameras are still powering on. I had a corrupt file on the M11 from today - couldn‘t find a corrupt file anymore on the sd card. I used the sd card from the M11M for both updates. jpark114 Posted May 23, 2024 Share #27 Posted May 23, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm closely monitoring this firmware as i hope to get into leica digital again. Currently, I use both Canon and Sony, but Leica is something that I can't seem to forget. I really hope they have gotten their stuff together this time.

The update includes a number of stability and performance improvements. The improvements: Camera did not start if the start process was previously interrupted by switching off the camera. Occasional generation of incorrect image data has been fixed. Various errors and causes of freezes have been fixed. Improving the stability of the firmware. You can download the firmware from the following links: Leica M11: v.2.1.1 Leica M11-M: v.2.1.1 Leica M11-P: v.2.1.1 I just installed it.
EJS73 Posted May 23, 2024 Share #29 Posted May 23, 2024 Installed it, via the app which went fine, and just in case did a full reset (sans image numbering) afterwards. I don't use presets and selecting my preferred settings was a matter of seconds.

hdmesa Posted May 23, 2024 Share #32 Posted May 23, 2024 I updated via SD card, and when it was completed and the screen said to restart the camera, it would not shut off. Had to pull the battery. Perhaps it was the old firmware giving me the middle finger on the way out. So far the camera seems more responsive, especially when magnifying to focus in live view.
John Black Posted May 23, 2024 Share #33 Posted May 23, 2024 Ditto - my M11-M wouldn't power-down after the update. Had to pull the battery. Ditto with the M11. Must be related to our settings.

Very happy so far with firmware 2.1.1. and I'll keep my fingers crossed. That AWB part is interesting. They didn't mention anything about white balance. Anyone can confirm that? Is it really better? Less magenta?

Beewacker Posted May 23, 2024 Share #37 Posted May 23, 2024 I just completed the FW update and everything went smooth as silk. It can be confusing though. The camera reads "The update is complete, Restart your camera", but the camera rear LED is still blinking orange. I left everything alone and after a minute or two, the camera did automatically restart. Which brings up another problem with Leica's FW update instructions. which clearly says; " ATTENTION The SD card must be removed from the camera after the update and before the restart. Use a computer to format the SD card before reinserting it into the camera." Please Leica, correct the PDF updating instructions or pull the FW 2.1.1 and correct the final verbiage shown. Be accurate and stop the potential for FW update errors. I'm going to shoot some photos now!
DadDadDaddyo Posted May 23, 2024 Share #38 Posted May 23, 2024 M11 and M11M both updated via Fotos Android app. All went smoothly. The only things that drew my notice were: 1) a pause of a little over a minute after the transfer until progress began to show on the progress bar. Then, the progress bar advanced fairly rapidly, covering most of the scale in around 15 seconds. Then, there was another pause of perhaps two minutes before the final couple percent of progress bar completion. I imagined this was an error checking routine, or perhaps housekeeping ahead of and after the firmware write. The entire process took around 5 minutes, perhaps 5 and a half, from start to finish. 2) When I switched off the cameras at the end as instructed, the red light stayed on a little longer than during a normal power cycle. It stayed on for perhaps 5 seconds, as counted under my breath. Nothing weird or off-kilter to report. Both cameras powered back on without incident and reported the new firmware version when checked. Both fired off a few shots when I tried them, without issue.
Uli M. Posted May 23, 2024 Share #39 Posted May 23, 2024 My experience with newest firmware update: firmware update carried out according to instructions. At the end of the process, a corresponding message should appear on the display and the camera will restart (at least it should). Further note: "After the restart, the date & time and language must be set again..." That's the theory: In practice it looked like this: Update starts after pressing the start command, LEDs flash as they should, progress bar at the bottom is uniformly gray, no progress of the process can be seen, no final screen with the message: update completed successfully. the camera just turned off, black screen. In the theory/Leica instructions: “Camera restarts itself”. But nothing happens. The camera is also switched off manually. Battery out, memory card out (that's how it's supposed to be done) Camera restarted without a memory card (as recommended), function ok, firmware 2.11 appears in the submenu. However, the date and time are all correct and did not have to be re-entered. Despite saving personal data before/at the start of the update, the copyright data are gone, other individual settings are all there. So far as the first impression, everything is a little different than described by Leica, but let's hope that the camera now works without any problems... Best regards, Uli
mekener Posted May 23, 2024 Share #40 Posted May 23, 2024 I had no problems before the last update but saw a blown out photo twice right after the last update so I decided to go ahead with this latest update. I updated via the phone app. The prompt on my phone said 'update failed, try again' but the camera restarted itself and when I checked from the menu the update was done. I restarted the phone app and it did not show any available updates either. I don't know if it was a close call or something went wrong with the phone app but everything seems to be working fine. Scary stuff...
