Steadimann Posted March 12 Share #1 Posted March 12 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello all, a new topic on rangefinder adjuster, duh... The problem I have is that my infinity is off - at the very end at infinity image does not align with RF. I watched the video how to adjust it with 2mm alen wrench, I could get it adjusted so that at infinity image aligns but then midrange is off. So what I have is - my infinity has to be off in order to have midrange properly adjusted, either if i adjust for infinity, then midrange is off. By saying off, i mean that there is no focus either at midrange, either at infinity, it seems to be corresponding with RF adjustment, if at infinity image is not aligned, then there is no focus at infinity, if i adjust RF to align at infinity, then when focused with RF at midrange, the focus is off in the image Is it something that can be done myself? if so, how? Derbyshire Man Posted March 13 Share #3 Posted March 13 I've recently done my horizontal and vertical, one of my lenses (ironically the new 50mm ASPH FLE mk2 close focus) was right on the edge with distance focus, ie it needed greater adjustment than the rest of the lenses to reach infinity. Choose your reference lens carefully! If I had a problem though of the magnitude you have I'd send it to a Leica specialist repairer I think rather than messing with the cam arm too. Although you could argue that if you fail to make it work the final step of sending it away is the same anyway. I wouldn't fiddle though until I knew where I was sending it and when I'd get it back! Perhaps you could make a YouTube or TikTok production. 1

I think the best option would be a video presentation along with downloadable data/slides. I wouldn't mind if the slides are of hand drawn notes. Anyway, several years ago I downloaded the linked drawings and put them in a note with the instructions. Yes, the note is in my computer but I can print that out when needed. 1
fotografr Posted March 16 Share #7 Posted March 16 Advertisement (gone after registration) If you do need to send it in, try Red Dot Repair. They can likely turn it around in two weeks.
Maarten Posted March 21 Share #8 Posted March 21 Please note your lens can be the culprit as well. If you can check your body with another lens that might help. If the problem remains the same your body needs adjustment, if not your lens needs service. I have adjusted my own and other people bodies for the infinity setting successfully many times. I have never touched the close focus setting (and never needed to). Lens service is for a professional workshop in my view.
