skilar Posted February 20, 2024 Share #1 Posted February 20, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) Looks like two new 50mm lenses will be coming soon from CV, an APO-Lanthar f/3.5 and a Color-Skopar f/2.2. I was just looking at the old LTM 50mm Skopar, wonder how the new one will compare. Advertisement Posted February 20, 2024 Posted February 20, 2024 Hi skilar, Take a look here Voigtlander APO-Lanthar 50mm F3.5 and Color-Skopar 50mm F2.2. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
costa43 Posted February 21, 2024 Share #2 Posted February 21, 2024 (edited) I have to say that Voigtlander are the most exciting lens manufacturer at the moment. Thank you for continuing to release interesting designs and giving us difficult buying decisions! I also like that there is no silver rim on these releases! I am also now encouraged by a future 35mm release of a smaller Apo Lanthar. I currently own the 50mm version which is a perfect lens at a just about acceptable size for a 50mm f2, I couldn’t bring myself to buy the 35mm though due to its length but a smaller collapsible would be right up my street. TomB_tx Posted February 21, 2024 Share #3 Posted February 21, 2024 Yes, smaller "reasonable aperture" lenses are appealing.
Alberti Posted February 21, 2024 Share #4 Posted February 21, 2024 I looked at the site with Google translate, and the Skopar looks promising: Quote It has excellent optical performance from the opening and finished it as a lens that can be used for almighty. 😇
Danner Posted February 21, 2024 Share #5 Posted February 21, 2024 The 50/2.2 looks rather interesting.
Alberti Posted February 21, 2024 Share #6 Posted February 21, 2024 I hope it will also have great edge-2-edge resolution. I have the Elmar 50mm f3.5 and though good for roaming, can be improved upon. So I’m eager to get details.
Manolo Laguillo Posted February 21, 2024 Share #7 Posted February 21, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) I do have the Apo-Lanthars 50mm and 35mm, which I use on the M10-r and the M10M. Really excellent, flawless lenses, but heavy and big compared to my standard lens, the last Elmarit 28/2.8. A 35/3.5 Apo-Lanthar would be much appreciated! 28framelines Posted February 23, 2024 Share #8 Posted February 23, 2024 According to the video they published on YouTube, the APO lens will have a “click” when focusing closer than 0.7m, but not the Color Skopar. At least finally they are introducing this feature for film users. It’s been driving me insane as a film camera user.

Nice to know where 0.7 is without having to turn on live view and take your eye away from the ovf.
RexGig0 Posted February 27, 2024 Share #10 Posted February 27, 2024 For those hoping for the collapsible feature, alas, it is, apparently, NOT the case. https://dc.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/news/1571214.html A Japan-based member of the Fred Miranda forum posted an auto-translation, on this page: https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1846836/8?year=current#lastmessage

It makes sense from a dust standpoint, but then why design it like this at all… it just seems weird. That being said, I actually like the “rigid” version design more anyway, especially in black paint. Now I just need to find somewhere that sells 34mm yellow filters that _arent_ a special order in North America.

If you have an “evil bay” account, there have been German dealers who stock Heliopan filters, and would readily ship to the USA. Edited to add: I did just did a search, at the ‘bay, and saw only pre-owned 34mm Heliopan filters, offered by German and Austrian sellers. Type “H” in this list. But they don’t have a screw thread in the front to add a lenshood on top. Welcome, dear visitor! JTLeica Posted February 28, 2024 Share #17 Posted February 28, 2024 Voigtlander as slowly becoming my favourite lens maker, they have knocking it out of the park at the moment, their lenses are superb, QC is great, only had one issue with one lens that I returned, and even better... I have a dealer local to me that stocks every lens they sell!

Such a strange looking lens but really cool too. 150g weight! That is basically made of helium. Roll on a whole series of these lenses please... 21, 28, 35, 90... Perfect landscape kit in theory.
