Advertisement Posted December 9, 2023 Posted December 9, 2023 Hi f35, Take a look here Image Transfer to Mac from a Leica Q2 Camera. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Gerardjan Posted December 9, 2023 Share #2 Posted December 9, 2023 why isn't it good to remove a card? I'm doing it since 2004 and never had a problem. Never heard of this before either. You can safely remove the card all the time.
Driften Posted December 10, 2023 Share #3 Posted December 10, 2023 I guess you could us the Fotos app to transfer them to your phone and then from the phone to the Mac, but removing the card and pulling them directly off would be faster. If you had an Q3 then you could connect it directly via usb. The Q2 can't do that.
Le Chef Posted December 10, 2023 Share #4 Posted December 10, 2023 I have been taking cards out of cameras and putting them into computers for 10 years with no adverse effects so far. I would trust that process far more than wireless transfer with Fotos.
jaapv Posted December 10, 2023 Share #5 Posted December 10, 2023 I have been using cards (CF and SD) in multiple cameras for two decades and I never even heard of any issue. I back up my cameras daily, using a card reader. Where did you read that it is alleged to be harmful?
bobtodrick Posted December 10, 2023 Share #6 Posted December 10, 2023 Harmful to remove card...not at all. Where ever you heard this was wrong.
Le Chef Posted December 10, 2023 Share #7 Posted December 10, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) It would only be potentially harmful if you removed the card if the camera was live.
anonymoose Posted December 11, 2023 Share #8 Posted December 11, 2023 (edited) User facing ports like the SD card are typically rated for 10,000+ cycles. If you pulled the memory card out and reinserted it 3 times a day it would take you roughly 9 years to break that port. Stop overthinking it and pull your SD card out like a normal person to transfer your photos. Edited December 11, 2023 by anonymoose
AndreasG Posted December 11, 2023 Share #9 Posted December 11, 2023 It once happened to me that in a Panasonic camera the retaining spring for the SD card was broken/non functional, but this does not prevent me to take the SD card out from my digital M almost daily.
