Hello Pau

How is the balance of the Sigma fp + 16-35SL?

Too large, too heavy and badly imbalanced! I took this combination out to test it out, but I won't do it again. It's OK in a bag, and it's fine in use, but I prefer to carry cameras in my hand or on a wrist strap, and this just doesn't work for me.

Of course the lens is wonderful, and my first reaction on opening an image in Lightroom is 'those are natural colours!' Now, I know IQ is a combination of lens, sensor, in-camera processing and the Adobe Standard profile, but it is pleasing to see at first sight.

Thank you, Paul. I had a test hour with the fp some weeks ago. With the 45 2.8 its fine - presumable also with smaller M-Lenses. But I fearded what you said about bigger lenses. Might be wise for me to consider a Sl also. Bigger body (with a decent viewfinder), but better balance with bigger lenses... Thank you again for getting back.

I have the SL, and I will confine the SL zooms to that (I have all three). I mainly use the fp for video with a M lens, but it would be nice to have a small AF lens for occasional carrying around with a full frame body, rather than my normal CL. I find the Summicrom-SL 90mm acceptable to carry on a wrist strap, or with my hand around the lens barrel, but I would rather have something wide - I may be forced to get the Summicron-SL 35mm (😀) or wait for a suitable Sigma lens in the Contemporary range.

A question Paul, since you have SL, CL and Sigma fp equipment:

What happens when mounting a CL lens on the fp?
Just like when mounted on a SL is the image a rectangle cropped out of the centre of the 24X36 chip?

Or is it a circle (including vignetting) on the full surface of the Sigma fp‘s chip, which in this case does not differentiate between SL and CL lenses?

Interested in the answer too.
