My SL2 firmware update to version 6.0 did not go smoothly requiring several installs and restarts. The cameras now works properly with my Leica L-Mount lenses, but with an uncoded lens mount adapter or uncoded lens in my Leica M to L Mount adapter it is flakey.  By flakey I mean unexpected results from buttons and controls as well as lockups.

On the chance that my issues were the result of a corrupted Manual Focus Lens user profile I overwrote it with the default profile.  After editing it to back to my preferred settings the issues, so far, appear to be resolved.

I just upgraded this 6.0 and run for one event, and damn it.... anyone facing this issues? Look like same issues with the SL3?

No. I use mine intensively for play and other performance, including changing batteries and lenses without switching off, and I've never noticed this - though I admit I have never checked file name sequences or times. I update to the latest firmware soon after it came out.

Have you lost files, or have you deleted some? Are you just concerned at the time stamp?

After using burst mode and attempting to replay images, the camera stopped responding. Both card V90 with SanDisk. I had to remove the battery to reboot it.

I copied all files to my mac, formatted the card and continued shooting. During the next copying session, I noticed duplicate numeric file names, even though the sequence should continue without any backward right?

But before FW6.0, I encountered the same issue, but it never affected the sequence.

No I've had nothing like that. I don't use burst mode often, just for dance or stage action scenes that are being performed for the purpose of photography. I only use the fastest rate with mechanical shutter (i.e. not the highest rate that uses electronic shutter).

My cards are also Sandisk V90: UHS II 300mb/s, 128Gb or 256Gb.

My last SL2 (FW 6.0) shoot was 195 images with no break in sequence.

Edited to add:

This sequence was shot over several days with lens changes and numerous power-downs.

Alright, thanks for the sharing. I'll try again and monitor on it.

I recently complained to Leica that although pressing the joystick to zoom in worked ok, you couldn't press it again to cancel magnification like you can when you assign magnifiction to a function button, you can only cancel it by half pressing the shutter release.  They said they understood the point and would put this right in a future firmware update. From the sound of it, they haven't!!

I agree, this behaviour is weird. Push once to magnify and again to remove magnification. Basic usability.
For me, at least the magnification on the joystick still works for manual lenses, but it doesn’t allow me to have that on autofocus lenses which is crazy.

it’s taking a long time to remedy this. Should be turned around very quickly.

I think part of the reason why Leica started to heavily discount these cameras is that this might be the final firmware.
After going through the thread, I (hesitantly) decided to update. All seems fine so far, no bugs or lost functionality.
I think paying the rip-off price for a Leica adapter (having just one coded lens) is just not feasible at all. Might try a close-focus one, which is more useful anyway.
I just edit the manual coding list according to what I am carrying, and deal with a slight delay doing lens changes. Indirectly motivates me to minimize them. Useful, considering other MILCs keep out dust Way better. Although those few seconds could be vital unfortunately, but it is what it is - which can be said for a lot of other things about these cameras...
I use EXIFToolGUI to enter the non-Leica lens afterwards before import.

I actually think the way it is set up, the joystick does Not work well in most situations.
Not only, because of cancelling magnification. But also - as pointed out earlier - because it punches in too far, making it tricky to find a (moving) subject in the frame. Real dial button is awkward to reach, so programming the upper front button seems to be the way to go. It remembers to punch in less, even if it is turned off. Oh, how convenient.
However, it does not last :)
I Really need to be careful to Unlearn pushing the joystick, or it Resets magnification, that's the most infuriating thing, and there is nothing I can do. Should be a self-centering button instead (which I guess it Could be, if I had coding...?) I wonder if I will be able to re-configure myself, because I still have use it to move the box.

Well, why don't I just use touch functionality with the EVF? I won't, because there aren't any adjustments, you Have to use the whole screen. (While on Canon, you can use just the right side, although moving goes the opposite way, so as to make the user curse, and not want to use vintage lenses at all...)
Moreover, double tap centers the point - again, finally something decent...? Except, it really does not work, unless one is super precise, sometimes triple tapping triggers it, or just moves the point - a Useful feature made Useless by implementation. The LCD could be fun to use, if it just punched in wherever you touch, just like how my first camera, the Sony NEX-5N worked...of course it is not made to be That useful, and there is no technical limitation why this can't work. Peaking is also not done well.

Funny, how Completely Idiotic all this works (probably mostly similar on an SL3, except users may have glitches for a while...nice).
And yet, this is still probably The Best option to use with manual glass. Simply because of output, and others make their cameras even less compatible.
Luckily, having re-acquired a new silver SL2 for a price less than what I sold my used black one a year ago, I can still accept all this - sort of...

I cannot believe this.

Canon professional user since 2003, then switched over to Leica during the pandemic. My dream camera was the SL601. Used it for years. Put it in as many people's hands as possible and what they were impressed with most was the joystick magnification. It never failed to elicit a "wow."

Invested hard in R lenses including the full Safari set, finally sprung for the Leica-branded R-Adapter-L. Nearly $800.

And then a few days ago, my biggest purchase to date. A Leica SL2-S Reporter from the Leica store in Nürnburg, Germany to match my Safari lenses.

Noticed that the firmware was out-of-date and read somewhere that the Joystick gained additional functionality through the 6.0 firmware.

Imagine my horror to find out that not only was the best feature stripped from the camera, but that IT HAS NOT BEEN FIXED FOR ALMOST A YEAR.

And you can't downgrade! I feel awful for doing the upgrade, and am considering returning the camera back to the store.

It seems like Leica's focus (no pun intended) is on the SL3 and maybe even the yet-to-be-announced SL3-S. The "be patient, we'll fix it" emails from Leica are nearly a year old now. Should I return my camera? Should I just downgrade to a $14 off-brand adapter in the meantime? Have most of you guys just retrained yourselves to use the thumbwheel? At this point, what should we do?

Try using the rear thumbwheel instead. The wheel is only about an inch away from the joystick and for me was a very easy and comfortable adjustment and in the end just as suitable IMO. However, I would prefer to use the joystick--but doesn't look like that is going to happen any time soon, if ever...I don't know.

Otherwise, return the camera for another camera with older firmware. There seems to be plenty of stock in general, so hopefully shouldn't be a problem if you act within the return period.

Leica customer service told me that the joystick-zoom- function will be included again in the next update. The next update will come later this year - Leica said around November.

Oh that would be great :)
