What happened to the used prices for the 50 Summilux pre asph. E46 in black paint?

I know of the relatively rarity of this lens but the prices went rocket high in the last few years...

It´s pure speculation from the sellers. There is no point behind it and just profiteering or even greediness. I had one from 2018-2021 and sold it for 4200€ in 2021 to a seller. I have seen my own lens several times on the internet listed to be sold. The highest asking price for it so far was 10.500€. I don´t know how much it was sold for as the highest though. It´s insanity.

If you don't need one, don't bother how  expensive it can be.

If you need one, then just pay the asked price.

The realization on auction houses such as Tamarkin and Leitz Photographica, to name a few, will give you a general idea the market price of these lenses.

I want to cry everytime I see it floating for sale, as price seems to go up steadily every year but my income isnt’t improving

Disagree, you can be photographer and collector at the same time.

As of now, I can walk into a local authorized dealer to buy this lens brand new for US$ 4000, or CA$ 6000, plus tax of course.

What's the attraction by the way? I really don't get it.

I am relatively happier with my pre-asph summilux v2 in v1 house, for less than half of the price.

Oh you have a pre asph v2 black paint with 70cm min focus?
 

edit: I understand of course the appeal of the v2 in v1 body. I’d be happy with a kanto repaint with skylaney’s modified helicoid With 70cm mfd. But I don’t think it would be cheaper 😆

If budget and close focus are a concern, i'd rather choose a Nokton 35/1.5 with 0.5m MFD. Not sure Kanto repaints it though 😉
