...What do you mean by profile to be assigned?

The list of available M lens profiles in the camera menu:

Lens Detection > Manual M > Edit list of M-lenses

In there are all the available lens profiles that work with the 6-bit codes and/or can be assigned manually. I was just wondering out loud if the firmware update changed the older existing one or added a new one. But joke's on me because I forgot my M11M should have the same list (duh). So I check the M11M, and it just has one M lens profile for all the old 35 Lux lenses:

35 f/1.4 11869/11870/11860 ––> I'm guessing this is the one assigned automatically to the SR reissue when lens detection is set to auto.

I thought maybe they would have added the SR reissue's product code of "11301" to the name of the above profile, but they did not.

Anyway, this just means that we can't use the list of your BP's M lens profiles to verify the firmware update worked in some way.

@Fred Miranda There is no issue with my M10-R Black Paint and 35 steel rim after software update. Before it was not recognized on anybody's M10-Rs, there are even thread posts about that, but after software update it must all be peachy. I have made you a snapshot and added EXIF.
Sometimes the 6-bit reader goes south and ONE of the six slots stops working, maybe this could be your issue that is not evident on other lenses as they have markings elsewhere...

Hello AI,

Thanks for the info.

I knew about this issue when I got the initial batch of the Steel Rim. My M10-R didn't recognize it at first, but it started working after I updated the camera's firmware. Interestingly, the problem only occurs with my BP camera. I've tested all my Leica lenses, and they are all recognized just fine. At this point I'm not sure if it's a software/hardware issue but I'm worried that I might need to send my camera to Leica for repairs.

You could try another 6-bit coded lens that depends on one or more of the slots used by the reissue. At least that would confirm if they problem is related to the 6-bit code reader hardware.

That makes sense. Hopefully someone with both BP and SR can chime in. What do you mean by profile to be assigned?

Hi fred, just a quick test mounting the SR on my BP M10r with lens detection set to auto and i only use default profile

I think I could have coped with the wrong hood.. they are sending the newer ones out if requested, who knows, one day the first lot will become collectible😉.   Fingers crossed that Leica do the right thing and replace your lens and hoods quickly.

I just got mine back today. After almost 3 months they finally adjusted focusing.

But it came back with the “old” hood.

How should I request the newer hood? Where to write?

Cheers!

I ordered my copy from Adorama. The lens was made 9/2024. No issues at all. Came with the new hood, smooth focus, no aperture wobble, ollux hood is tight, and calibration looks accurate.

Hopefully this means all the issues have been worked out.

You might want to edit the production date.

Quick update.

After 3 months Leica calibrated my lens leaving a dust inside.

They gave me a clean brand new lens which (again) turned to be not calibrated (back focus).

So I calibrated it myself…

After this thread the only reasonable reaction is for one to stay the F-stop away from this lens.

Sorry @setuporg, my first reaction to @hmzimelka's comment was to laugh, I don't even know if you have an M11.   Given all the horror stories of long waits for service and uncalibrated lenses, freezing cameras, scratching M6 curtains, sometimes it's a surprise anyone buys anything Leica.  But then, there are the (hopefully thousands) of very satisfied/happy customers whose toys/tools are perfect straight out of the box and don't need service anytime soon.  That would be the case with my re-issue SR, purchased August manufactured July this year with fitting hoods and the lovely character I was hoping for😉.

Just less likely to find the good news stories here, or any other forum for that matter.
