I wouldn't get a Q for the 50 mm crops. I think of it really as a 28 (really more like a 25) mm fixed lens camera with a high-res sensor. If I want to shoot 50 I use something else. But 28 is my favorite focal length so the Q suits me well.

You're still getting a lot of resolution on a 50mm crop.

I found them not super pleasant to deal with. I got myself on the list at one of the other online retailers just by putting credit card down and they even told me what number I was on the waitlist.

Actually, Ret Dot Cameras told me my place and the estimated deliveries per month. I've always found them great, but everyone has a bad day.

Anyway, I've paid the deposit, now I just have to wait and read about all the bugs. Hopefully a lot will be ironed out before I take delivery.

You are, but I much prefer the subject separation and depth of field you get from a 50/2 on an M. Actually, I prefer the output of the Ricoh GRiiix over a cropped Q2 file.

Has anyone else had or is having slight buyer’s remorse? I’m here waiting for my Q3 and I’ve had all this time to consider my purchase, wondering maybe that $6,000 is better spent on a trip to a new place or a new experience rather than a camera.

Well, we’re all different as far as finances, but of all the cameras I’ve used if I could only keep one it would probably be the Q2.

Most efficient and useful way to spend these $6K would probably to donate all of it to the charity of your choice. You’ll never forget the experience, and I’m not being sarcastic while writing this.

On another hand, not sure a photo forum could be a good place to get opinions / advices on how to spend your money?

Far too much. Those are people speculating that there are buyers willing to pay far over the street price to be the first kid on the block to have the new toy or scammers who plan to relieve you of your money without delivering. Placing an ad will attract them.

I’ve seen comments that some Q3s are showing up on eBay but I’ve been looking and can’t see anywhere. How much are we talking for a new one via a classified ad?

The person from Texas had it up for $7,888.88. Wasn’t up for long so somebody must’ve bit.

Just in the interest of balance, I’ve dealt with Red Dot Cameras over many years, including buying product from stock and going on waiting lists.  I’ve always found them excellent.

I have no connection with Red Dot apart from being a satisfied returning customer. I’m on their waiting list for the Q3 and it will come when it will come.

Patience is a virtue.

Hello Miltz,

Well, from another perspective... I was one of the (extremely) lucky ones who managed to buy the Q3 on day one of launch/availability. And, despite a (once so far) freeze when shutting down the camera, I have no buyer's remorse.  I'm actually feeling a bit guilty having acquired the Q3 while it seems the majority of intending buyers are having to wait a considerable time before more stock is available. I didn't even pre-order - just rang the local retailer a few days before launch, asking if they were getting any stock of the new Q3, and they were - with no-one having pre-ordered any. They got 1 initially, and then two more - I got the first one!

So, hang in there - there really are a lot more positives than negatives with this model - and any doubts or remorse will most likely quickly evaporate when you get your Q3.

Hope you bought a lottery ticket that day as well. With that kind of luck, you undoubtedly would have won enough to cover the Q3!

Ozymandias, I congratulate you and I am jealous.  You are very fortunate.  I had my money sitting in the dealers pocket and I just gave up and decided to keep my beloved Q2 and I found a nice minty CL like the one I used to have as my back up camera.  I decided to wait until a couple of updates later after you have gotten the kinks out of the the Q3.  Please enjoy it and let us know what hidden features you've discovered.  Besides I can pretend my new CL and it's 18mm pancake are a junior Q3...   😄

If you're in the US it's worth regularly checkin the Leicacamerausa site.  I was about 5 min late on launch day at B and H to get in on their limited stock so I initially preordered there then preordered at Crutchfield as well once their listing went live. About a week and half ago I came across stock on the Leica site and was able to successfully order and receive a Q3. I was signed up for stock notifications and never received one so it was by chance that I noticed the site had it in stock. I've since been able to order and receive an extra battery from Leica's site and the grip/wireless charger from Crutchfield.

Oh interesting, so the leicacamerausa site doesn't have any waitlist then? Darn haha. Good to know that it's possible to order from there if theres stock. I also signed up for notifications and haven't received any.

It does not. If you can order it on their site, it's in stock.

Ok, since it has been two weeks since I placed my order I went ahead and reached out to B&H just to see where things are. They pretty much told me that they don't know anything. Here's a screen shot of their response. I am very tempted to cancel my order at this point. But I think if I did then I might have to give up on getting a Q3 until next year.

Well, if you wait you’ll get one, if you cancel you’ll never get one…
