Received my 35 Steel Rim yesterday. The focus ring is very smooth and consistent, no stiffness near the infinity lock. The infinity lock is actually very nice to use, even though the click is a little bit weird when I press it. No calibration issues.

The bad things: the aperture ring is a bit wobbly, and the clip-on hood is very wobbly. When I shake the camera slightly, it makes noise (from lens hood moving and hitting the lens metal rim)... The lens was produced in Feb 2023. Not sure if I should try to exchange it or not.

Iv’e had my new “steel rim” for a week now , no problems with aperture or focus.

I love its compact look , so have not used either hood, I’m giving it a try without the hood to see how much flare I’m prepared to tolerate. So fast , so good.

Anyone else with sans hood experience ?

Hi Everyone - just so you are aware the replacement (shorter) screw in lens hood has started to ship to owners from Leica and mine is due tomorrow/Friday.

I'm not certain it's an automatic thing unless you've registered the lens against your Leica account/let Leica know you'd like to be on the list.

Enjoy

M11 at 1,7, interesting effect with the back light from the steel and glass. I like it.

No my fell off. I got my second lens today, after a month of waiting. Everything works perfect.

One question: is this a crop? The lens focuses at 1m  I think, this was my main problem with v.2 Summilux- portraits

Yes, it is slightly trimmed on the left and right.

Did you receive your new hood yet? I haven’t gotten mine.
