Shot on a Black Chrome, Portugal edition if that matters haha. This is unfortunately not a lens I reach for very often. I just find it too physically long, and too front heavy. I always seem to have issues focusing it a 1.4 - I'm thinking it's a front focusing issue. Well here's my sleepy doggy.

New lens?

Only briefly, I'm afraid.

The short version: the lens had a repeat case of the "loose, wobbly focus ring" syndrome, even after one repair. But in the two weeks I used it before the second failure, I also realized it was just the wrong 50mm for me, in a host of ways. So returned it under warranty. What's "right" for me - on an M? My 50 Summicron v.3: 200 grams, 43mm long, 180° focus throw, no focus tab, Mandler color/contrast. The things I got into M photography for in the first place.

But it was useful to find out what the "ASPH Lux" fuss is all about - imaging-wise.

Thank you! We rescued him about two years ago. I think he's some sort of cairn terrier / schnauzer mix. In keeping with the spirit of the thread, here's another shot on the lux, wide open of course.

When I see her crisp eyes, I almost start to miss this lens again. 😄

Thank you. I understand, this lens is my favorite one. The only drawback is the "Ninja star" effect around f2.8/4 in certain light conditions, but I can cope with it. And it is so rare that I only remember how great this lens is rendering 😊

The 50 lux asph was my first Leica lens. I fell out of love with it for a bit since I wasn't typically a 50 shooter and felt it to be too wide. But it's definitely making a comeback as one of my favorites as of late. Like you, I can't get over the rendering :)

An example of the Bokeh of this Lens, in a often complicated situation (foliage) for a lot of Lenses (for example, the summilux 35 ASPH FLE renders a nervous bokeh in such situations).

I hope this isn't the sales clerk. If it is, you must have talked him into selling at too low of a price.
