3rd time as a charm for him

Not clear if he was using UHS-I or UHS-II cards. Perhaps he said so but my English was not good enough to understand. Anyway, i can only repeat what i said above as far as my M11 is concerned: 0 issue in 8 months with two Sandisk UHS-I cards, 3 issues in a few minutes with one Sony and one Sandisk UHS-II cards.  The camera is in perfect shape otherwise. So mystery solved, not, but solution found yes AFAIC: no more UHS-II cards as long as i'm not reassured that i will have zero issue on the M11 with them. YMMV.

Since your issue with UHS-II cards seems to be unique, did you contact Leica about the reproducible lock-up?

Assuming my M11 is unique to fail with UHS-II cards whereas it succeeds with UHS-I cards i guess it will remain unique to work with UHS-I cards only as long as Leica finds a non-solution to this non-issue :D.

Still curious, has anyone in this forum had an M11 crash while using one of these?

Leica will not be able to fix your UHS-II issue if nobody has reported it.

I’ve been using the 200mb/s UHS-1 version also from Sandisk with no issues for a few weeks now with zero issues. It’s also cheaper than this one.
Before  that I used the Sandisk 300mb/s UHS-II cards in my M11 since I got it in January. Also with zero issues

I don't believe this issue to be individual. Too many people stating that their M11 works fine but they just have to pop up the battery from time to time. Never happened to me in 20 years. Now i'm no techie but i am empirical so i will see if things improve at the next firmware update. If they do, this will  confirm that Leica knows the problem and has found a solution. If they don't, i shall see what to do but i'm not in a hurry given that my camera works perfectly with UHS-I cards anyway.

This so strange! Same camera same card same firmware - different results. Was the camera freezing before the update and were you using the same card?

Yup, bought one of these after Leica sent the camera back (couldn‘t reproduce the issue) to test whether my Sony Tough UHSII caused the issue. But had the same experience with the Sandisk UHSI card.

I use this card but the 256GB version, I had issues with it stopping the camera connecting to the Fotos app (yes, really - removing it and using internal memory I was then able to instantly connect).

I did find that after that weirdness, I formatted the card with the 'SD Card Formatter' software posted around this site and it's been behaving a lot better since. Although my connection to Fotos is still a bit hit and miss but not sure if that's just the Fotos app as it seems to be notoriously bad (or maybe a mix of app, camera and sd card). Now I've written that, I should really test Fotos connection again with just the internal memory to see how solid it works then swap SD card if it's  still causing connection issues.

I've not had any lockups yet but I've not had a chance to use the camera properly and have shot less than a few hundred photos with it so far.

The M11 I have was bought around Jan of this year (previous owner), so an earlier one.

Probably not helpful, but I was just reading this page:

https://photographylife.com/fake-memory-cards

Something I never knew before - there is a serial number printed on the back side of the SanDisk cards.  It might be useful to check that your cards have a valid serial number printed there?

Also, this pages leads to a test that can be downloaded to check if a memory card has issue:

I am really annoyed at what Leica has dealed with Leica M11 freezing. I was first exited to think about  several qualities of M11 offered since m10 released. However we all around the world  who paid  high~ price not a cheapie have had some troubles to deal with the camera freezing. I understand some  of new cameras initially would have this kinds of problems. But one year passed since launch of M11. I still have had troubles to deal with M11 lockup.
I can’t imazine how prestigeous and historical like Leica company would deal with their product’s big problem. Think about how the Apple deal with their products problem. No appologies what so ever from Leica campany .
