de-JTC Posted August 3, 2013 Share #724 Posted August 3, 2013 I'm thinking of buying a Leica film camera,I hear/read that the M6 TTL is the best choice, which one do you guys recommend? also where would you buy one from living in the UK/Europe? Thnx in advance Steve. One can't say which one is generelly better because both are great. The best bang for your buck would be an M6 classic. I find the TTL to be slightly more comfortable to use due to the different speed dial. A great place in the UK is reddotcameras.co.uk - a very well known and respected dealer. Be sure to show us your new beauty when you get it in your hands!

Rusubandenwa Posted August 9, 2013 Share #726 Posted August 9, 2013 I bought an M6TTL today, while waiting for my M240 to arrive. I figured I could use a backup for the new M, and using my Summilux 50 asph on a crop sensor Fuji does not really do it for me. This is not my first film M, but nonetheless I'm really excited! lenticularis Posted August 22, 2013 Share #727 Posted August 22, 2013 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Lovely shot Mikemix Here is my M6 classic, bought in a brief period when I decided to hang onto my M8 and not look for an M9, so figured I could afford to buy a film M... Of course, within weeks I sold the M8 and have now bought an M9 I enjoy using this my first film Leica M. cobbu2 Posted October 16, 2013 Share #730 Posted October 16, 2013 This is my "user M6" which is also a titanium! This camera was previously owned previously owned by a photojournalist from Contact Press Images and has the dings and scratches to prove it! Not too often to find "user" and "titanium" in the same sentence.
Popular Post philipus Posted October 16, 2013 Popular Post Share #731 Posted October 16, 2013 My M6TTL Black Paint is back from Solms having had the MP viewfinder upgrade installed. It is a massive improvement to my eyes. Previously I kept missing shots because of the quite frequent white-outs but now I'm unable to provoke it. Amazing. I also had some general tuning carried out. The shutter button is now much softer, more like my M4, and the whole camera feels overall very smooth. Leica also installed better light seals around the shutter curtain. Later in the production span of the M6 and the TTL an improved version of the seals was manufactured, which was less prone to uneven, "wavy" wear, caused by the shutter's movement. At least this is how CS explained it to me. The kind folks at Customer Service threw in a black dot for free, which was nice since I had just painted over the red one. To take the camera apart they needed to remove the leatherette. The one they put on is less shiny and much more grippy than the original Millennium leatherette, which is a second bonus. I had considered changing the cover to something else (I wrote about it in this thread and received very helpful suggestions). This cover is perfect for me so now I won't have to change the cover. The difference is quite clear between the photo below and the one in the other thread. Susie Posted October 19, 2013 Share #737 Posted October 19, 2013 Nice! I have the same setup. Thinking about the finder upgrade myself... Do they have to remove the camera leather to do it? Yes! I went on a factory tour at Solms last month: any work involving the internals require replacement of the covering as the screws holding the camera together are covered by it. On the older models, such as the M3 and M2 the vulcanite was put on before the machining, hence the visable screw heads making dis-assembly possible without removing the covering. They did some work on my M9 under warranty and part of the requirement was that I agree to replacement covering (free) which is now of a different pattern. Susie Just did a factory tour over the Wetzlar factory. Our paths nearly crossed. My M9 was repaired and upgraded to M9-P. The previous covering was preferable IMO and more 'grippy'.
