Hi all,

another week another surprise 😉

Yesterday was out shooting and the viso was working fine, however when coming back home I could no longer see anything. the live stream going to the rear screen. odd. camera works, no glitches on the video when viso is ok, nor on the display.

viso in out / nothing (the issue of contacts? but then how comes that sometimes it works?)

battery in/ out. nothing (it is not a bug)

then magically it works again.

tilted / horizontal, all ok. angle does not affect (it is not an internal contact)

then this morning again dead. i have inserted, removed, inserted, removed.

it seems to be a contact  on the hot shoe which may be the issue.

anyone experiencing this type of problem? with M10 also, as the design is the same...

I hate to think about it, but something is likely to go back to germany...

And if M11, that would be keeping the average, as every single M of mine went there at least once...

frustrating!

Nothing gone wrong so far on the M11, M10 Monochrom and M10-P.

I hope that you can figure out the root cause soon.

Same problem here. Sometime I have to move side to side for it to work.

I have email support and they told me that they don't know of any issue.

I went to the Leica Store and tried a few out. the owner said that they all have it at some point and to use an alcohol wipe on the Visoflex contacts.

I works for a week and then it comes back.

The good news is that it is not the camera!

The visoflex have not been the robust part of the M, at least the 020 inherited the same problem, it is too sensitive at all?

The 020 cannot inherited the problem that the visoflex 2 (of the OP) has since it comes before the current 2 version.  So I asume you refer to the original visoflex having the same problem as the 020.  For what it’s worth I have used all visoflex models and the word “sensitive” is not something that comes in my experience.  However all Visoflex’s have their weak points and the current version 2 is the best of all, but not being a robust solution is not what I would associate in the first place as a weak point with it. Just my experience.

I have the same issue with mine, use it on M 10R BP. When happened for the first time, I send it to back to Leica and they replace it with new one. But, sadly enough, it happened again with the second one. I did the same tests as you did, and I think it may be something with battery capacity. Namely, it works fine with full charge battery, but when capacity is reduced, it would happened very likely. Then again, with less than fully charged battery, it may work when the whole system is warm up. I believe, Leica know the problem pretty well, and also thing that this issue was the reason for delay of firmware delay for M 10 cameras. Who knows, maybe they will resolve the problem with next firmware upgrade or they will simply replace the wisoflex with new one. Until then we will hope for the best every time we use it! 😉

Are you referring to the current Visoflex? Just curious.

hi all, thanks, update from here. went to shop, tested and the very kind customer care finally managed to reproduce the issue with the same visoflex on another M11 and not with another visoflex with my M11. which meant the visoflex had an issue. replaced and all happy but will see if this is the end. incidentally, i was shooting this afternoon and testing the new viso and the camera was very hot as never I had experienced before.

Time will tell...
