That sounds right.  I was put off by the fact that herons have long necks, but this one has folded her neck down out of sight and hunched her shoulders up to a remarkable extent.  There's one wikipedia picture like that.  Also the white belly is unique.  Rob, on the next nice day would you see if you can catch this critter looking happy and full of life?

We have had a deluge of tropical rains these past few weeks. Typical this time of year, but hopefully the weather will abate in the next week or so and I'll take a walk and see what I can find.  It is usually interesting on the lake.  Here are some other 'neighbors'. (The first one looks a bit like our heron). Rob

One more from my first outing with the CL--so easy to use, with incredibly detailed raw files.

With 180mm  f/2.8 APO-Elmarit-R and APO-Extender-R 2X at f/8 . . .

A somewhat leery myna . . .

Couldn't find any birds today, so had to make do with this one through the haze . . .

Good to see Robs pictures of the rains in Florida. In Mumbai, the sea is still relatively calm, but clearly the monsoon is on it’s way.
