double exposure pictures

Recommended Posts

One work-around, in-camera, of which I am aware, is to use one long exposure, in darkness, using flash, or other short-duration lighting, for each shorter “exposure.” Total darkness is not an absolute necessity. In low light, one subject can appear in multiple places within the frame, using this method. Another work-around is to set a long exposure, and cap/cover the objective end of the lens, between each shorter exposure. The math, for total of the shorter exposure times, and power of the flash or other lighting, is the task of the photographer. Or, the photographer can simply experiment, to get correct exposure, rather than doing the math.

I am unfamiliar with the Q-series’ ability to set long exposures, so cannot be of specific help. As a previous reply indicated, the usual way to create a double-exposure, with digital cameras, is to merge two images, in post.
