He commented on a YT video about an M11 not working, said that M11 files resembled or looked the same as Sony A7 files and disagreed with forum members stating otherwise, using the option to post GIF files made available by this forum. I mean, presumably there was some other reason he got banned. It surely can’t be for what he did as I described, right?

I am not an admin and do not have first-hand knowledge. So this is my speculation from what I have read on the forum so far.
A while ago, a user was permanently banned from this forum, I am unaware of the reasons, but the cause must have been severe. That person continued his attempts to join the forum and instigate fights. He has been using different user ids, and his new ids are being banned because of the original ban.
Do not be alarmed. A strong dislike of M11 is not a reason for being banned 😆.

Multiple people have resurfaced, only to be booted again.  If this was the case here, then it’s surprising it took this long (hence my post above)…he was very active yesterday, with some mods participating.  It could also be the case that he posted something else egregious in this thread, or via PM with mods, which we didn’t see.

Leica bashing has become so common that nobody seems surprised these days but choosing the face of a reviewer as user's avatar w/o his agreement is not allowed by the forum rules. I have no idea if this was a banning reason in the present case though.

Who cares if M11 files have a passing resemblance to A7R4 files? We KNOW that the S1R and SL2 share silicon (with some topping differences). People still buy the SL2... I have the 55mm 1.8 (but not yet an A7R4) and it's a very very good lens in a compact package. Its rendering can be a bit brutal sometimes but there's no doubt that side by side with a 50APO most of the time, most of us could see little difference.

Anyone who thinks that M's and M lenses have some technical advantage or some magic fairy dust over their files, needs to get out more. M's are about the process of shooting. Pure without aids or distractions. The Sony 55mm 1.8 is spectacular but generally the best Sony lenses are huge. You can have a small camera/lens but it's a big SYSTEM. With the M's you have a dozen choices of tiny spectacular lenses.

When some muppet comes on here and tries to stir the pot, who cares? IQ is not the be all and end all of a camera system. Sometimes the process is as important as the results. When he comes back and posts again it's just proof he doesn't get photography at all.

Just say "yep, they look similar, but that's not why a photographer choses a Leica" and move on. Stop empowering these dills and they'll stop coming back.

To echo others here, there should be a very short fuse for admins to ban these new accounts that immediately troll post. It bothers me to see them being engaged with. The little “hand wave” icon should be changed to a red warning flag 😆

There is only one part on that sensor package made by a company Sony owns. All the others are one off custom ordered. Not even any Sony engineering or input.

I saw Hugh's face in the guy's avatar, read the post and immediately though "that is not Hugh writing." 

Such deception and disrespect for the man whose face was fraudulently used should result in an immediate ban of the perpetrator and a locking out of his IP address IMHO.

And to be honest, that "brown stuff" got old a LONG damn time ago. 

If people hate Leica, the city of Wetzlar, Oskar Barnack, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Andreas Kaufmann, Garry Winogrand, the color red, Leica shooters and their dogs, cats, children and their children's playmates - that's their business.  Hate all you want, but spread your hate, nonsense and equestrian feces someplace else.  We don't want to freaking hear it.  Jeezuz, get a life.  🙄

If I am right about Vinncent's identity, he has been working hard on bypassing any blocks since his permanent ban. The admins do not have an easy job.

Well i'm no admin fortunately for the LUF and i suspect it is not a easy task but i'm a bit surprised at a kind of tolerance towards stupid behaviors like this. Like using ridiculous videos of a past president under the pretext that they are offered as "GIFs" by the forum... I must be getting too old .

I thought he was just a new user that recently purchased a new Summicron lens.  Then when the Sony-Leica posts began it was deja vu all over again and again and...😉  The multiple quoting responses were a good indicator of the style used by he of many names.

Yah but bringing your strong dislike here Is just trying to disrupt the community. I’d suggest that hammering away at a strong dislike for the M11 in the M11 forum possibly should be grounds for banning as you are negatively affecting the community. Of course that is entirely different than having some issues with the product or company.

I agree with Gordon that the M is a lot about "the processing of shooting". As someone who has used many systems over the years, including Pana, Sony, Nikon and Canon (at the moment Canon for action and sports) I do however find, that the Leica files do work for me very good in regards of color and rendering (of the lenses). I agree that most systems are up to deliver very very good IQ, and that nowadays handling, user interface, lens lineup etc. are probably the most important point to choose a system.

In case of the M I still feel it is the system, where I feel 1) very connected to subject due to the optical rangefinder and 2) I love the simplicity, set the f-stop, exposure, focus, klack

First, my apologies for upsetting people, that was not my intention; I am simply a new Leica owner, interested in discussing Leica related topics with (what I thought would be) like-minded souls, enriching my experience, and trying to become a better photographer. So I assumed that this was a good forum to join. I can now see that this was a naive mistake, and newcomers don't seem to be very welcome. So I'll leave you all to it; me and my Leica will be on our way, and you'll be relieved to hear that II won't be posting again.

Dont let the few people, who spend their time searching for bad things in products they dont own, disencourage  you. Over the years I have found a lot of usefull information on this forum from many positive people. I also think its good to hear different opinions. However sometimes we hear the same negative opinions again and again , so its a little bit too much.
