I was not able to reproduce it. Manually or automatically invoked image review always terminates with half-press on my M11 (LV and RF mode).

I have EVF mounted. I also have non coded lens mounted. Maybe that is the reason? I will update later once have camera on hand.

I can’t repeat this behavior. I don’t know which setting trigger this throughout yesterday morning walk.

this is the worst experience in term of bugs i have in recent M experience. I love the file though. It has my favorite Leica digital camera sensor so far.

What would be cool if we could get a setting with you can prohibit that the camera also delete photos from internal memory when you delete them on SD Card.
Also that these photos are not immediately visible when you press play and delete the photo. Usually when you make backup on internal memory and than you delete
photo on SD Card the one on internal memory is still visible. The thing is if someone on the street want that you delete the photo you can do that on SD Card and also
show him that is done. The backup one on the internal memory is still there but not visible until you “unlock“ it in the menu setting. Not many people know that M11
also have 64Gb internal memory. This could also be useful for the photojournalist, street photographer... I know that you can restore deleted photos most of the time
but if the camera write something over the picture data, the data are gone... It is not most important thing to have but it could come handy sometime...

Interesting, I only got one request to delete the photo over 2 decades. if you are upfront what you are doing most people are fine with that.

what are you going to do with that picture anyway that you need to recover it?
That one person that ask me was secret service agent. I said fine, it is not going to change my life.

You can delete the image on the SD card, swap the card, and later recover the deleted photo from the original SD card.

It would be great if Leica finally would bring out a firmware which fixes a number of annoying bugs. They were (too) quick to fix one problem but now it is all very silent. Unusable user profiles and slow continuous shooting are the ones which are really irritating for a camera of this price. Should not be too hard to fix and release a firmware file.

Somewhere I read that a new firmware should come in this month.

I read that too. But why wait with bug fixes? It just cripples the camera and they did fix one bug that way, so why wait? All the other stuff is new and nice to have. I will pick up my emails with Leica Germany.

Perhaps it is not that easy. Or they make it like in the past: They wait for a larger update to fix bugs that they regard not so urgent.

Your guess is as good as mine, but if I think about it a little I hope and assume they use the code base from the SL2/SL2-s for User profile saving, setting and presenting. I should be quite a simple fix. And to your point of not being urgent, User Profiles have been in any digital camera I remember for a reason. In the M11 they just don't work reliably.

I'll stop my rant 🙂. I will send them an email asking for an update.

-  possibility to combine 2sec selftimer and exposure bracketing

Still in dire need of this. FOTOS is just flaky enough that I cannot always rely on it for remote shutter control, and I continue to experience that when it does work, it reverts to single frame. Tired of carrying an old-fashioned cable release around, though I admit, it has its retro cool factor. Grrrr. As someone else noted, it seems weird that Leica acts as though there are no landscape or architectural users of its digital cameras.

Besides some stability improvements,…:

- RGB histogram

- Cine framelines

!! 1.3&1.8x digital zoom… not a frame on the display, but optionally enlarge the crop frame to fill the display.

- REAL dynamic range improvement when using the low res DNG, not just the marketing

Just my four cents ;)

Hi All,

I take the opportunity of this thread revival to continue this firmware wish list. Also Christmas is getting closer and closer !

I would like please:

- The comeback of the blue alert on playback when an area has pixels value under a defined value, as a pixel value of 0 will always stays 0 even if the camera exposure latitude is very good. This alert was suppressed with the last firmware update. I don’t see any reason for that. This is really missing.

- Add an option in the menu to activate a mode where a  2 sec long press on the button in the center of the 4 way pas at rear of the camera will activate AE-L (automatic exposure lock) and a 4 sec long press to disable AE-L (or a button on the LCD screen : the mode area could be used as a button)

- add another AUTO ISO exposure mode where the shutter speed cannot go under the configured value. Today with auto ISO, in case of insufficient light, the shutter speed can be below the configured shutter speed.

- Allow the copy to SD function to be able to copy pictures from internal memory to the SD card even if the SD card is not empty. Also allow merges to be done ( add content of the internal memory to the sdcarf).

- Do not display the default user profile as first option when one user profile at least has been configured.

- remove the “Format SD card/ internal memory”quick access menu button from the rear screen main menu. It is too dangerous here, even if a confirmation is required.

- Add an option in the menu to activate an anti-theft mode working like that : at start of a each new day, ask for an unlock sequence to be entered. This sequence is inputted thanks to the rear 4 arrows. In case of wrong answer the name / phone / email of the owner is displayed.

Thank you Leica for listening !

Add optional traditional closed-open-closed shutter cycle mode. Yes, we would lose metering, but if you are shooting in constant lighting that is not a problem.

If Leica wanted to get really creative they could add a feature to this shutter mode, where if you press the FUNCTION BUTTON it opens the shutter, takes a meter reading, closes the shutter and locks the exposure reading (AE-L), until you double tap the FUNCTION button again to clear the memory.

Obviously not a feature for everyone, but for some of us it would be a real boon.

  • 5 months later...

Some versions later (now at 2.0.2), what do you want to change? For me:

  1. Resolve freeze issues, I haven’t had them the last two months but there are still some reports
  2. Resolve broken DNGs
  3. Add USB mass storage option
  4. Add frame assists (4:3,16:9, 1:1, 2.35:1, custom)
  5. Add option to enlarge the 1.3x and 1.8x cropping to full display size in LV
  6. Add storage option for split, but reserved from the current one, so DNG on SD, JPG on IN.
  7. Improved pixel binning for DR and NR, and Lightroom profile support on that.

5. A disadvantageous solution for the manufacturer: people will buy fewer lenses, using only 1-2 lenses as pseudo-zooms, given the excellent sensor resolution.
