Hope they make an APO 90/2 to pair with the 35/50 combo.

That was my hope, too, until this Apo-Skopar surfaced. At the moment, my feeling is that a 90mm f/2 Apo-Lanthar is less likely. Hope still says: sometime not in a not too far future, they will indeed make an apo f/2 90mm M lens. In the meantime, I'd better sell my (mostly unused in the later years) 90mm Elmarit-M.

I'm  a dyed in the wool Leica guy, but I have to admit this lens has me interested.

I have a 75/2.4 Summarit (that I don't use that often), but the 90mm is attractive to me because a) my M4 doesn't have framelines for the 75mm and b) it shares the same 39mm filter size as the 28/2.8 ASPH Elmarit and 50/2 Summicron that are my main lenses.  I have to admit I also think the lens looks pretty great - at least in photos.  The Leica alternatives cost more than I'm willing to spend on a lens with this focal length given that it probably won't get used all that much.

Different experience here. My 90/2.4 seems almost immune from color fringing. I don't overexpose much though.

My Macro-Elmar 90mm F4 does give fringing in complex situations. So this new lens is nice. I like how it is able to separate.

This should be the first video for this lens:

The impression I get from watching a bit of that video is that the lens looks a mess when adapted to his Sony, but looks ok and is a nice size when mounted on an M camera.

It seems to give a decent separation in his very bland portraits, but you'd expect that with a half decent 90mm f2.8 lens anyway.

It will probably make a very good option for someone who wants the 39mm filter thread on a smaller and lighter weight lens but doesn’t want to buy a used, and probably more expensive 90mm elmarit-m or 90mm macro-elmar and that seems to me to be the 90mm apo-skopar’s  strongest attraction at a reasonable cost.

I don't think it is possible to judge the lens results from that video. It also looks like he is applying skin smoothing to the portraits, so I think an evaluation will probably have to wait until it is in people's hands. It looks great on the camera though. Nice and clean and compact. I thought the bokeh looked lovely, but again, hard to judge from a video. Based on what CV has been doing lately, I guess that it will be a very good lens at a very reasonable price. A perfect compliment for a film camera, or for someone looking for a lens that performs as well as most recent Leica lenses, but at a good price. I think that the CV lenses now give people modern Leica sharpness to people who do not want to spend several thousand euros/dollars on a latest gen APO ASPH Leica equivalent. If people don't care about the brand, just the optics, I get the impression that CV's best new lenses are better than even the last generation of Leica lenses.

it seems a nice lens with an old style bokeh (which is beautiful to me) because the rendering from phocus plane to out-of-phocus planes is gradul and smooth and let the the OOF image be discernible. I'm looking for an alternative to my Elmarit-M, I'm interested in weight and size, in bokeh and in sharpness and this lens could be a winner. Newer M-Lenses are bulky, weight a tons and the rendering has no difference from focal-length to focal-length.

The reviewer said "telephoto" so i got the impression it is not a wide angle lens :D. Just kidding and no disrespect to anybody .

Cosina say it’s a 90mm lens with an M mount.  Hope that helps you.

I get the impression from your Username that you’re a Bus Conductor.

I missed a 2nd hand 90 Macro Elmar at almost half price (current version) mint condition for nothing. It was on hold on the Leica store by the seller until he was thinking of trading something. He kept the lens 😞 It was so good to be true.

For the first time, I tried the 90mm lens and the proper composition with the frame lines. I had a preconception that w/o corners, the frame was not accurate. I was wrong. I enjoy framing with a 90 focal length.
I prefer E39 and love lenses being less than 280gr. I'm sure that I will get one CV 90 apo cause it's a great match. It's already on my wishlist. 🙂
