250swb Posted July 14, 2021 Share #43 Posted July 14, 2021 Much as I like Billingham bags, I have three, the Hadley Pro being my favourite everyday bag (but too big for the OP), I do change bags according to where I'm going, and if there are crowds I'd only take a bag with good fat strips of Velcro to hold the flap down. Zips and straps can be silently opened by naughty people, not so a Velcroed bag, a 'Retrospective' is loud enough to wake the dead (although it can be silenced). Helge Posted July 14, 2021 Share #44 Posted July 14, 2021 I understand your point, unfortunately the same is valid in an environment where you would not like to make any noise getting your camera out of the bag (wildlife, streets etc.). Thanks for the photo - that puts things into perspective, my 50 will probably fit on the camera without reversing the sunshade. Carrying the 90 isn't that big a deal, as I mostly shoot 35 and 50, and there's room for some accessories, better than using my pockets. For the original purpose, this thread can be marked "CLOSED" or whatever the appropriate term is. I just ordered the bag - and thanks to your photo, I bought one that looks similar to yours, only $10 more than the one I had been looking at. It's beautiful, soft, reasonably mall, very protective, has enough room, but no excess, dividers, and a front "pocket" for small stuff. I haven't yet put the camera inside it. I'll see how the camera and an extra lens fits into it. As of now, it's a "keeper". I'm still not sure how they expect people to open it - there is the pin that goes through the "belt", like in how you buckle your pants, and the strap can be forced up a little, so it slides off. The buckles are only for the occasional need to adjust the fit of the bag to accommodate smaller or larger volume of gear. Otherwise it’s a simple matter of slipping the large opening in the straps over the pins and pulling down to tighten, or pulling back up to release. Simple, quiet and secure. Did you get Fibernyte or canvas? Both have a rubber layer between the outside material and inner layer, and are thereby waterproof. The company started by making fishing bags.
