Margin for use outside the jacket-sleeve. And, when the sewing-kit was on the table, a small pouch for the spare-battery. Welcome, dear visitor! Strmbrg Posted December 7, 2024 Share #204 Posted December 7, 2024 (edited) The latest one. Now with two sliding magnets, so I can attach and get the unused length out of the way, in several ways, when using it as a wrist strap. The magnets are glued to cut-off bolt-heads, and then glued to the inside of the leather. (A washer can of course be used instead of cut-off bolt-heads 🙂) Welcome, dear visitor! gunther35 Posted December 11, 2024 Share #205 Posted December 11, 2024 I need a strap that's adjustable since I alternate carrying my camera around my neck or wearing my camera crossbody. The Leica Strap #18575 is perfect. It is soft, made with quality leather, and is durable. https://leica-camera.com/en-US/photography/accessories/m/straps/carrying-strap-leather-black

Strmbrg Posted January 6 Share #207 Posted January 6 Advertisement (gone after registration) The very latest one. Adjustable in 10cm steps. I decided to make holes, both for decor and to make it more supple. I used an old Meccano-profile to mark where to punch. The small holes are purely for decor. Welcome, dear visitor! Smudgerer Posted January 11 Share #209 Posted January 11 The best Leica M strap?............No question in my mind, it's the 14312.

I bought it because I noticed that many like it and several hold it as the best strap there is. For me, it is too short. At least if I want to use it cross-body. The "anti-slip-pad" is in my opinion not necessary. I have no need for anti-slip-pads even when using a strap on shoulder. The possibility to adjust the length is of course fine. But it means that I have to unlock the plastic part, which is quite hard to do. I have by now tried so many different straps, and even made some myself. The one above I hope will stay on for quite a while.

Whatever works for you, or others is what works best.........I like the 14312 because it can screw up into almost nothing in a bag, or hand and the shoulder pad works nicely. evikne Posted January 11 Share #212 Posted January 11 For me, the most important feature is that the strap doesn't slip off my shoulders. Before I migrated to Leica, I used UpStrap for all my Canon cameras. Now I use the Leica 14312 for the same reason.
Deeetona Posted January 11 Share #213 Posted January 11 I used the search function and only one(!) post mentioned the 18553, which is on my shopping list. https://www.leicastoreamsterdam.nl/leica-carrying-strap-leather-black-18553.html Any reason why it is not so popular? Strmbrg Posted January 11 Share #214 Posted January 11 The Leica leather straps that I have looked at, all have some kind of synthetic material or textile on the backside. To me, that is not what i want in an expensive strap.
TomB_tx Posted January 11 Share #215 Posted January 11 My favorite Leica strap is the 1960s Leitz 14092. Thin well-tanned leather, about 1/2" wide, and the inner edges were beveled so there would be no sharp edges against your neck. No excessive bulk like the fancy straps of today. Got mine new in 1968 with my M4, and it's been serving well on that camera ever since.

I still use Upstraps (now Northlight), but the new one is not as good as their old kevlar ones, imo.

The PD Leash would seem to meet all of your criteria…max length, no pad, easy adjustment and release…and be far more supple, flexible and lighter than any robust leather strap. The Slide Lite would be wider, but unnecessary bulk with an M IMO. But I only use PD for my SL2; the 14312 lives on all my M bodies. Whatever works.
