Lesslemming Posted April 21, 2024 Share #184 Posted April 21, 2024 Just chiming in, in case it hasn't been mentioned before. I am an avid fan of the Cura silk straps. Strmbrg Posted April 23, 2024 Share #186 Posted April 23, 2024 (edited) The adjustable COOPH-strap arrived today. At maximum and minimum length and as wrist-loop. The chosen length is kept and doesn't increase by itself. The friction is more than enough to prevent that. Welcome, dear visitor! yukosteel Posted April 24, 2024 Share #187 Posted April 24, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) For me minimalistic simplicity is the key. The strap is DIY made from durable leather purchased at local craft shop ($15 for 1" wide piece, I've cut two 1/2" straps of it), with radial cut on edges and lug contour cut. It's secured firm with DIY made ring form copper wire (less than $1). Strap is very pleasant to wear on shoulder or wrap around wrist for more compact secure grip, the one on picture is used for couple of years already. It flips down with simple rotation without adding bulkiness to the right hand grip. Here's related DIY article Welcome, dear visitor! colint544 Posted July 11, 2024 Share #189 Posted July 11, 2024 +1 for the Harry Benz Urūshī strap. Wanted to give Harry's straps a mention as he's gone above and beyond in the making of these. I have one on my M11. Harry made it a little bit longer so I can wear it crossways without the camera resting somewhere under my armpit. The strap is simple in design and it's easy to loop around a wrist. Where the strap holds the metal rings, it's a little thicker, so that no matter what way the strap twists, the metal ring doesn't touch the shoulder of the camera. Had this one nearly a year and it's only just beginning to break in. Feels like it will last forever. Welcome, dear visitor! CP93 Posted July 11, 2024 Share #190 Posted July 11, 2024 (edited) For anyone still looking for a 14312, Keh has one in Ex condition for $40 USD. Me, I'm looking for a hand strap (not a wrist strap, but one like the Clutch) but they all need to attach to your bottom plate and I'm not sure how much of a PITA that will be? The Micro Clutch was a big PITA. This finger strap works really well for me. No plate:

Smudgerer Posted July 12, 2024 Share #193 Posted July 12, 2024 +1 for the 14312. You don't need anything more fancy than these straps. I agree completely with this: https://johnnymartyr.wordpress.com/2019/03/14/the-best-camera-strap-in-the-world/ Otherwise the best alternative I've found, and use, has been these: https://shop.deadcameras.com/home/45-theme-collection-slim-strap.html

Yes, it takes a while, but definitely worth the wait. I'd never heard of these straps before I went on this forum, so thought I'd give one a try, since every strap I'd ever had was slightly disappointing in one way or another. My picture doesn't do it justice, but - for me - it really is the most simple, sturdy, and elegant solution to carrying a camera. The craftsmanship is superb. I'm sure you'll love yours.

I own two of them for each M made to the exact length preferred, and a a third and fourth one on the way for my X2D (Harry is using HB lugs on the ends for this set incoming). Just love these straps, they wear beautifully, and love the smooth finish that his leather develops on the underside which allows me to smoothly transition to/from cross-body rest to bringing the camera up to my eye, and vice-versa. Highly recommend these if you like a strap with little fuss or externals to get in the way of shooting. Not to mention they are beautifully made 🙂 . Deejaybeephoto Posted July 13, 2024 Share #196 Posted July 13, 2024 I’ve got 2 leather straps of differing lengths, but I’ve now settled on a Domke strap (without swivels). Very comfortable, lug protectors included, adjustable (important because I change my mind) and cheap!
Strmbrg Posted November 9, 2024 Share #197 Posted November 9, 2024 (edited) Very often I find myself in a bewildering noise of alternatives, where actually nothing is what I really want. The "strap-market" is an example of that. After several purchases I gave up, and bought some leather, waxed thread, leather needles and stuff. I wanted something very discreet, supple and most importantly, a simple combination of wrist- and neck strap. I already hade some Simplr-rings, so it was easy to get what I wanted. The pictured one is made of fine leather just 1.3mm thick and 10mm width. Sewn and then "decorated" with a tight twisting of the same waxed thread. PS The Simplr-rings are the only ones I have found that NOT are "brutally-made" i.e. no raw, unfinished ends that destroys the strap and the lug. They are very easy to attach and still very tight after several openings. Sorry for the poor image-quality. Welcome, dear visitor! Strmbrg Posted November 22, 2024 Share #200 Posted November 22, 2024 I just made another one: This time even simpler. (A little like the Leica-philosophy of continously simplifying rather than the opposite.) The wrist-strap-end has no sewing at the split-ring end. The sliding leather-part (for adjustment around the wrist with or without gloves) eliminates the need for this, when using it for neck-carrying. Welcome, dear visitor!
