The camera might survive photographing big game on Safari with a 28 mm lens -Leicas are solidly built-, but the photographer will certainly be eaten by a Lion, chomped by a Hippo and gored by a Buffalo... OTOH, they go perfectly with a snappy Harrods' Safari suit and a Pith Helmet. Safari is just a brand. these were based on the paint used one leica cameras during wartime. Yeah, a 28mm lens on a safari is know to wild animals as "fast food"!

The colors are not the same, but they match quite reasonably. Erikvw, I noticed in another post you also had a M10-P Safari. Would you happen to have a photo of the two bodies? It would be interesting to see how different the "olive green" is between the Safari and Reporter. Thank you
Fresno Posted October 17, 2022 Share #26 Posted October 17, 2022 Here you go…. Very challenging to capture digitally. To my naked eye, the greens appear to be same. The image depicts the Safari a few shades lighter than the Reporter. Safari M10-P Reporter M10-P Safari 90mm Safari 50mm Safari Light Lens Lab Safari 28mm Note the 90mm accurately depicts the shade of green. The 50mm appears darker but it is exactly the shade of Olive Drab Green. The LLL 35mm is somewhat darker but not a match. Welcome, dear visitor! Fresno Posted October 18, 2022 Share #29 Posted October 18, 2022 “The LLL seems glossier too.. very nice” Yes, the LLL 35mm is semi glossy. The Safari and Reporter are semi flat. I ended up seeing a Reporter in person and it's a tinge less saturated than the Safari (going by memory).
Chimichurri Posted October 22, 2022 Share #31 Posted October 22, 2022 (edited) I saw a Leica reporter edition worn. It looked hideous. They certainly don’t age well, especially the Kevlar thing. I never understood these editions but I guess some people like them. For me the safari green looks best with the silver lenses. Kevlar gets fuzzy and fades to a gray (not olive drab as Leica claimed).
jdlaing Posted October 9, 2024 Share #33 Posted October 9, 2024 (edited) It’s not a Summicron. The company is very careful to not use that title. It’s just another f/2.0 lens. Not very good build quality either. Edited October 9, 2024 by jdlaing
Herr Barnack Posted October 14, 2024 Share #34 Posted October 14, 2024 Special/Limited Edition Leica To my eye, the two Leica M Kinderlachens are tacky, without class and truly vomit inspiring, as is the Hello Kitty M6. 🤮

I'm happy that Leica produces various special editions because even though they might not appeal to me I'm happy that they exist for those they might appeal to. In my book it's better to have the option and not want it than to want it but not have the option. Leica can sort out how it balances production and its accounts etc so that availability of its 'mainstream' products are not affected by offering the special edition and limited edition products.
