Hi, does somebody own a Leica Summicron-M 1:2/28 Edition "Safari" or has seen real life pictures? I’d love to see additional pictures of the lens except the one official photography that’s spread all over the web.

Here a picture of the M10-P Reporter in combination with a 28MM Safari-edition Summicron F2.0. The colors are not the same, but they match quite reasonably.

Last week i visited the Leica store in Amsterdam and bought the Leica 50mm summicron F2.0 “Safari Edition”. For long time this lens was sold out, but suddenly the got them delivered again. Leica communicates that only 500 pieces will be made. My question is: are they producing more lenses of this type now, or is this a part of lenses of the 500 pieces they made? Did anybody here something about it?

I bought the standard black Leather handgrip and had it made in the olive green colour by the Leica Store Amsterdam.

Hello, Can anyone tell me how to remove the hood on this lens that I just received? It's reversed in the stored position exactly like in the attached photo (same type of lens), but I can't get it off (or can't figure out the procedure for getting it off!). When I pull on it, it's spring-loaded somehow...that little circular dial moves when push it towards the mount, but the hood will still not come off. Gah! Help? And here's a video showing the hood off the lens, just so you know I'm not crazy and that I should be able to remove it...

Today i finally received my 3th safari lens ordered, a 28mm Summicron. Because of the shut-down of the Leica factory due to Corona, the production of the safari lenses was delayed this year. But now i have my collection completed, a Leica M10-P safari, with the 3 safari lenses, a 28mm, 50 mm and a 90 mm summicron in safari-look.

Dear all, I will probably have a trip to Namibia and Zambia next August. I am a long time M shooter and shoot exclusively with my Ms. For Namibia and Safaris I plan to get a new body and longer lenses. From what I have read, I should go for a body allowing long telephotos such as 200-500m, 300m with 2* extender, ... and maybe even with an APS-C body (Nikon D500 ??). I'd like the idea to get a body that can also be used with my M lenses, but so far, the longest SL-zoom seems on the short side ? (and there is no extender, am I right ??) Thanks for any comments / point of vues ! Didier
