There is enough room for 2 M RF and EVF

I think that it has been shown that it would not be possible, at the present time, to fit a RF and EVF in the M body. We should not forget that the M series are Rangefinder cameras and have been designed as such with development over nearly 100 years. I have nothing against EVFs but they are much better suited for autofocus cameras (I have a Fuji X-Pro2 and it is superb). For what the M series has been designed for the RF is the preferred option.

Don't count me in please. I mostly use my mirrorless cameras with manual lenses, M and R ones essentially, and they work fine this way, often better so than my rangefinders i must say. There is some room for both anyway so i don't even understand that it can be an issue for anybody. YMMV.

I am inclined to agree with you regarding it not being an issue. As you say, there is room for both points of view, each to their own. The thing that gets me is that people seem to want to convert a rangefinder designed system into an EVF system which is rather illogical given that the lenses (and cameras) are designed for rangefinder use. It would be far better to produce two parallel systems but we have to realise that Leica is a fairly small operation and that would probably not be viable. My most used M10 is my M10-D and the simplicity of just using the rangefinder is what makes it so special. I have my Visoflex 020 for non rangefinder lenses if needed.

I'm no armchair CEO but rangefinders have optical limits which rend them more and more difficult to use with large sensors and fast lenses to the point that nailing focus is simply impossible w/o focus bracketing or using an EVF if one wants to watch pics at full magnification. Offering a competent Visoflex could be a solution but the current ones are so sluggish that i wonder if it is possible to do better in a mere hot shoe accessory, if even Leica wanted to do an effort in that direction...

Leica will definitively sell a M with EVF for M mount

only from my pocket that would be 30k euros at least

without EVF : never again !

I really can't understand this utter contempt for rangefinders. Looking at the sales figures I'd conclude there are certainly enough of us who like using them to induce Leica to continue the M line, and by M line I mean cameras with rangefinders. Anything else is no longer an M.

For those who just have to have an EVF, why not get a CL with the M to L adapter for your M lenses? They're great little cameras.

The discussion is absurd... M=Messsucher=rangefinder... With an EVF it's not a rangefinder anymore and the product name "M" would become obsolete... The "M" is something else then.

An EFV isn’t an ‘M’ thing because it won’t show what’s outside the frame. It would be a different camera. I’m hoping they will make a CL-2 that is more M-like.

Agreed,

I think we should all take a moment and look up what the M actually refers to. See Kegon 267 above !

(Sorry I jumped in without reading this page!)
