Thank you.  It's a sculpture by Maggi Hambling called The Scallop on the beach at Aldeburgh (Suffolk).  It became quite controversial, with many people wanting it removed and unfortunately suffered some vandalism, but I think it's now accepted as a piece of outstanding art.

The inscription "I hear those voices that will not be drowned" is a quote from the Benjamin Britten opera, Peter Grimes.  Britten lived in Aldeburgh for 30 years and his works are regularly performed in the nearby Snape Maltings theatre.

It is outstanding. But I would just like to add (as I've never had the opportunity before) to say that I played theorbo in a Handel concert at the Snape Maltings Theatre, some third years ago. I loved the whole area, and would like to return before I get too wearie.

A long way from Edinburgh but do try to visit if you can.  I have seen your work and I know you would produce some wonderful photos.

With the newly acquired Leica Q2M, I thought to challenge myself to depict the advent of the spring without color.  It was not easy, as for most of us, spring is color.  This is the first of three attempts over a two day period in a walk nearby.  The image, taken at full aperture, is edited with Silver Efex.  Kindly observe that resolution improves considerably when viewed on the light-box.    Regards.

This is the third image in a series of three.  The image--taken at full aperture--is edited with Silver Efex.  Kindly observe that resolution improves considerably when viewed on the light-box.  Needless to say that the Q2M is a joy to use.  Regards.
