  1. I use my own cataloguing system, so never tried to import the LR version. Overall I’m very impressed Exposure X6..
  2. Q2M with red filter on lens, which I’m resisting taking off. The bark of the tree is covered in various species of lichen. Next time you want to move house, check out the health of the local lichen on trees and rocks. As in this image, a lot of lichen indicates good air quality.
  3. Seed head. Q2M with red filter on lens.
  4. I’m throwing in the towel...on the Q2, returning it to the camera store. I shoot b&w 90% of the time, and almost every colour shot I take looks better in b&w, such as this one. Clearly I’m a b&w photographer, and the Q2 is far too expensive for me to use for just the occasional shot. Thankfully my main squeeze is the Q2M, which I’m in love with. Farewell, Q2! 5. Will do. My experience so far has been entirely positive. My editing is intentionally minimal, so every editing program has far more to it than I will ever need. Exposure, Shadows, Blacks, Whites, Clarity, and sharpening is about all I ever use, apart from the rare moment of wild fancy! Exposure X6 has all of these as easily accessible as with LR6, and in the same place. There is a large section of film-style presets which are dangerously fun to play with...
  6. Variations on a theme...based on this book cover by the late Joseph McKenzie: [Q2m with B+W ND filter x4]
  7. Cheers, Stefan. My iMac is slated to arrive on Monday. I’ll download two or three trial products.
  8. I am! Form an orderly queue for autographs 😄 I teach from home - these days via Zoom - and needed to get out for a health walk every day. I soon got bored with that, so bought a cheap camera to give me something to do. I quickly realised that I loved photography, and then began the years of experimenting with different cameras and mediums, eventually selling all my equipment for a Leica M9 Monochrom, which after a year I traded in for a Q2M, which is definitely the camera I’ve been searching for all these years. I now have a Q2 as well, though have not quite found my voice with colour pho
  9. Thanks for the mention of Affinity. I will look it up, and PSE11 as well.
  10. I use Elements 11 as a final check after LR6. It’s still a useful program. But I can’t just use it and nothing else. Still waiting for my new iMac. I fear they are still awaiting new chips from China...
  11. Frog Spawn? If not, what? My daughter's boyfriend showed me this wobbly ball on a pebble finding by a river. I asked him to carefully replace it after the photo.
  12. From Birnam Wood - mentioned by Shakespeare in MacBeth:
  13. Thanks. I can report that I am very happy with the Q2. My kind of camera. 😀
  14. I brought the two Leicas - Q2 and Q2M - to Birnam Wood, mentioned in MacBeth, in Perthshire, Scotland. Beautiful place. It says something about my photography when I say that I came home with 27 colour shots with the Q2, and 765 b&w shots with the Q2M. It will take a while to plough through the latter, but in the meantime I'm sure Shakespeare would recognise these:
  15. I’ve had the Q2M since it came out, and is my first-choice camera. Then I looked for a colour camera to complement it. I started with the TL2, but couldn’t get on with it. Traded it in for a CL. Couldn’t get on with that... Now I have the Q2 - Heaven! The combination of both with their macro options gives me all I need. I tried mono conversion of Q2 files, but was not happy with them. So I stick to colour on the Q2, b&w on the Q2M, and am very happy to do so. That said, I remain an 80 to 90% b&w shooter.
  16. Darktable? You must mean darktable 😉 They make a noise about the lower-case d. Well, the price is right! I’ll give it a try. Thanks.
  17. Experimenting with split toning for that old Henry Fox Talbot or Hill & Adams look. It's the sort of subject Talbot might have taken, I think.
  18. Thanks for all the suggestions, guys. After following all the links and suggestions, I've opted for Exposure 6 - thanks Bobitybob. You win! 😀
  19. Thanks, folks. So, so far we have Iridient and Raw Power...no Capture One or DxO. Interesting.
  20. My stand-alone LR6 will die a death when I get a new iMac in a couple of weeks. I don't want to pay a monthly fee for using LR, so am looking for an alternative that does the basics superbly well - I do not like to spend hours at the computer. My three cameras are: Leica Q2M (main camera), Leica Q2, Konica Hexar AF film camera. Any suggestions appreciated.
  21. From this morning's walk with the Q2 in hand:
  22. My favourite camera of all the ones I've had is the Leica Q2 Monochrom, and I've been trying various colour cameras to see if I can work them intuitively (because thinking hurts!) and like the result. Often I've liked results, but not the process. So, the obvious thing would be the colour version of the Q2, but they are expensive. However, Ffordes in Invernesshire sent me a second-hand Q2 at a great price, and I used it for the first time on this morning's walk. It is a breeze to use - couldn't be simpler, and the lens (as with the Q2M) can slip into macro mode - very useful for a fixed-lens c
