I aim still learning how to use the newly acquired SL2 with the Vario-Elmarit 24-70mm.  I have taken the shot this afternoon in the metro system in Washington, DC.; the aperture was on the wider side of the lens.  Of course, resolution improves considerably when viewed on the light-box.   Regards.

Bateleur Eagle (Terathopius ecaudatus), taken from an open vehicle @ Ngala Game Reserve S. Africa.

Bateleurs are primary scavengers & as such are highly threatened due to poising of carcasses by farmers or traditional healers who harvest their body parts. The presence of Bateleurs in an area is indicative of a healthy & balanced eco-system. (FWIW my company logo is a Bateleur).

I wonder if you would have gotten better result with your Canon 400. What I don’t like much in this shot: some halo artefacts on edges from sharpening, poor dynamic range between blacks and whites, it is hard I know because you shot against light but perhaps I’d sacrifice the sky and expose more on the subject, blacks are 100% black, all information seems lost in the bird’s body, or maybe you could open it up a bit …?

Joern as a MOD

Happy to do so, but where was his warning when he posted a thumbs down emoji in reply to one of my photographs and then told me to “try harder next time”…..?

not sure how that respects nettiquette…..
