Very impressive detail.  I don't have the 60mm Macro but might try using the Elpro 52 on one of my M lenses.

We're still in week 6 of a hard lockdown, with no alcohol sales permitted for now in South Africa.  Thankfully I still have a plentiful supply in my wine cellar.

Vacqueyras, among my favourite southern Rhône reds.

Interesting that you serve it in such a narrow stem. I would normally use that for a white or Champagne. Do you find that intensifies the flavor? (I don't normally drink southern Rhone, so ignorant of it and defer to a Frenchman!)

This was a grabbed shot as the security truck rumbled past (not common in UK).  I don't know what to make of the photo or the way I have processed it.

Looks like a scene out of Midsomer County.  Probably geographically off, but who really knows where Midsomer is!

Nice photo of a beautiful scene.

Very observant Ken. I'm a victim of my own circumstances, white wine glasses are all I've got at the moment.  I was trying to clean a shelf full of red wine glasses & it crashed to the floor with no survivors, a bit of a disaster 😖 !   Replacement glasses ordered, however due to lockdown there's a 14 day delay in deliveries...

As for Rhône  wines, the soil diversity in Rhône Valley lends itself to the production of an outstanding variety of excellent wines.

N. Rhône reds are predominantly Syrah based, my favourites being- St. Joseph, Cornas, Crozes Hermitage, Côte-Rôtie.

S Rhône wines are slightly more complicated, with the grapes being a blend of Syrah, Mourverdre, Grenache, Cinsault amongst others, to make- Chateauneuf du Pape, Gigondas & Vacqueyras, which are some of my other favourites

Best,

Mike

Hi Mike,

I'm sorry for disaster, small by current standards, I guess.

Sounds as if this calls for contributions to a different website! I drink Bandol from the south, and the northern Rhones you name (though can't afford Hermitage). I like Cinsault as well; less so Grenache. Many years ago, a wine merchant begged me: do not drink Burgundy! I ignored his good advice, much to my everlasting poverty and obsessive qualities....

best,

Ken
