Okay. I've checked this one out properly. 

There isn't an official life expectancy, but 50,000 is a rough average of shutter counts for items in customer care.

However, they have seen lots of cameras with a shutter count of 150,000 and more.

Just a quick update note, I got a reply from Michel telling me that yes, they can sell those M9s and ship them to the other countries, and he confirms that the shutter life is 50,000 clicks. They still have a few both silver and black M9s and M9Ps available 😉 I definitely will get one.

I wonder if any fellow member have bought from Leica Germany directly shipping to the US.

Since I am not going to be around in Texas when the camera arrives I wonder if there will be taxes to pay. Other option is my sister in law lives in Switzerland, she could receive it at her house and re-shipped it for me later on.

In that case you may have to pay taxes twice.... once to import into Switzerland and once into Mexico (or US?)

Nice, congrats! Good to hear you got one in, thanks for reporting! Hopefully it’s a sign some of us might hear back soon, too. I haven’t heard back since last Friday, so I was wondering if he sold out before I responded.

I didn’t include any payment info in my message because I didn’t feel very comfortable about my info in someone’s inbox, but I asked how he wanted payment or if there is an online payment form or if I should just call - he didn’t include any other instructions.

I am looking for an M9 because I love the look from my M8 files. Yes, my A7Rii have like a dozen more stops of DR, and 32 more MP but I am a simple man.

Similarly here: my old M8 files outclasses my CMOS files in IQ - the liquidity being different from the sharpness. I hope the M9 would give that experience again.

Probably the M240 needs different lenses - I experimented a lot with ‘old lenses’. Still I start to appreciate the real Leica lenses again. On an M9, to accompany my MM1?

I am in the same boat, they request my credit card information via email but I am not willing to do so, very risky, so and I told them this morning to please send me another payment method, PayPal, or bank transfer could work too. Which camera did you choose? I am going for a black M9-P with chocolate leather, but the silver M9-P looks super sexy too

Yeah, I was surprised he would just include that bit about payment without much clarification, and I’m not about to risk that info over a camera. Nice, I was thinking about an M9-P, too! And that would have been my choice of leather,  or close (any shade of brown really), but I wasn’t sure if they charged extra for change of color option.

 

I just requested the steel grey regular M9 in dark blue cowhide that was shown in his pic. However, I sent another email yesterday to clarify that I would be open to any of the steel grey regular M9 if someone beat me to it! Those silver M9-Ps look beautiful, too, and would be my second choice if the regular steel greys are sold out. But I’m definitely going to request a different leather color if I go with one! 

 

Still no no word or response as of today.

Michel from Customer Service told me that the leather is free of charge and that I can choose from any a-la-carte options they have. But still waiting with the payment process. No way I will give away my CC info over an email.

I always send the expiry date and CVC code in separate mails from different accounts. Or Skype them and give those details over the phone

I do the same, splitting the cc information into several mails. Considering the value of the purchase, even an overseas call from a cellphone would be appropriate.
