Gelatino Posted August 31, 2018 Share #121 Posted August 31, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) How much did you pay for that? Did you go through local dealer or directly Leica Germany? I upgraded from the M240 to the MP10-P last week. As far as I can tell, the level gauge works the same way. Horizontally and vertically.
Advertisement Posted August 31, 2018 Posted August 31, 2018 Hi Gelatino, Take a look here Leica M10-P with level gauge, touchscreen and a much quieter shutter. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Gelatino Posted September 2, 2018 Share #122 Posted September 2, 2018 I apologize, didn't want to be intusive, I thought Leica proposed an upgrade from 240 to M10-P, which they don't. How much did you pay for that? Did you go through local dealer or directly Leica Germany?
oka Posted September 6, 2018 Share #123 Posted September 6, 2018 Just replaced two M10's to M10-P's, I've had them only for the less than a year. I never liked the sound of the shutter on M10's, actually I preferred the Canon 5D4's shutter sound in silent shooting mode.In weddings and streets, M10's shutter got too much attention and today when tested briefly M10-P on streets I could shoot with 28mm lens around in 1.5m distance from the people while walking without anyone noticing it.M10-P is just camera what M10's should have from the start, could not be any happier.
paul chiu Posted September 6, 2018 Share #124 Posted September 6, 2018 I also turned in my M10 Silver for a black M10-P. The Silver M10 just get too much attention. The shutter was the main turning point for me. Yeah really happy with my upgrade too. I went from silver M10 to black M10P. Love the shutter. The touch screen is wonderfully responsive. The double tap to check focus if needed is very intuitive and quick.
oka Posted September 7, 2018 Share #126 Posted September 7, 2018 (edited) Those who has upgraded from M10 to M10-P:1) Have you noticed that the shutter button feel is slightly better and it's easier to take single photos even when drive mode is continous high speed?2) Metering is better and isn't as sensitive to M10 when there are bright areas in the pictures on outer part of the image?3) ISO button lifts up slightly more easily?I'm comparing two M10's to two M10-P's so it's ruling out the sample variations... Maybe it's something you can tell when you have them side by side. As for the ISO dial it's about the same as my M10. Usually have to use two fingers to lift but the action always feels very secure and positive. Metering seems about the same to me too. I usually shoot two thirds of a stop under. 4pipes Posted September 7, 2018 Share #128 Posted September 7, 2018 I decided after reading about some of the quality issues with new Leica cameras over the last year, I decided to pass on such a small incremental upgrade. I have a flawless example of an M10 that I’ve enjoyed for a year now. I’d love a black P, but I’d be sick if it came with any issues. Besides it wouldn’t make me a better photographer :<).

I intend to use that piggy bank to fund the SL2 in case it is released soon.
EdwardM Posted September 13, 2018 Share #130 Posted September 13, 2018 (edited) Leica changed the sapphire glass for gorilla glass to make it touchscreen. Weird. I do not want touchscreen on RF camera, but the sapphire glass was one of the key reasons to wait P version. Now its not. paul chiu Posted September 13, 2018 Share #132 Posted September 13, 2018 (edited) That is a concern for me as I exchanged for the 10M-P Any particle of sand will scratch gorilla glass of any grading. One can spot a speck on the gorilla screen, wipe it with your shirt and be surprised by scratches. oka Posted September 15, 2018 Share #138 Posted September 15, 2018 (edited) Its to do with ££££ or $$$$ or €€€ or even ¥¥¥ . Sapphire will be back on the M11 ? I'm not even sure what could be improved from the M10-P but below are my whishes. - Back screen scratches too easily. When hanging the DSLR around the neck, usually camera body points down due to the weight of the lens (abrassion is usually shown on the bottom). On RF, lenses are so small and light that usually lens point forward and back screen constantly has contact to the body which then scratches very fast on even slight use even when it's rubbing against the shirt. M10(P) is my only FF camera where I use screen protection film on the back screen, I never did that on my Canon 5D's (1-4). - Same shutter speed range of the SL. Hassling with the ND is fine for recreational use but when working professionally it's just pain in the arse. - High iso improvement of the 1-2 stops. I don't care about the DR as the current M10(P) with the absolutely fabulous Leica lenses draws the picture, especially highlight so that it looks it has the best DR on any FF cameras (difference is so huge that I still can't believe how Leica could pull this off). - Removal of the bottom plate, it should be similar of the SL's. Thought M line has so long history that I'm no sure if the legacy weight too much on this issue. - Better battery / heat management, especially when using EVF. EVF battery life with the M10(P)'s is quite a joke and heat build up suggests that it's on the limit of the current design. - Bigger magnification on OVF / hybrid viefinder with EVF. With fast lenses and when shooting wide open, focusing with EVF is faster and you can focus easily to the moving subjects. When shooting wide / slow lenses when the sharp area of the picture is bigger, OVF is much faster and easier. Hybrid viewfinder would be perfect solution. Some of these are going to be "fixed" on M11 but the current M10-P is the most versatile FF I have ever worked (even on professionally on weddings). pico Posted September 15, 2018 Share #139 Posted September 15, 2018 Oh, heck, consider a $17 screen protector and change it every few months. Get the ones with adhesive only at the edges.
schattenundlicht Posted September 16, 2018 Share #140 Posted September 16, 2018 Oh, heck, consider a $17 screen protector and change it every few months. Get the ones with adhesive only at the edges.+1I still have the very first screen protector on my M9. Needless to say, I have one on my M10, as I do on all my digital cameras. I even use the clumsy hard plastic screen protector on my Nikon DSLRs . I am not into rearscreen pixel peeping in the field, thus the miniscule ‚image detoriation‘ induced by the protector is a non-issue for me. In consequence, the same goes for the gorilla vs. saphire debate for me. I propably would use a protector on a saphire screen, too
