dancook Posted March 9, 2018 Author Share #103  Posted March 9, 2018 (edited) Let's see a few pics....  I've been taking hundreds of crappy photos whilst I played with the 20FPS + c-af, not really caring for composition and content..  I don't think I was using the right AF settings, but I was getting shots of my puppy running towards me in the rain.  DSC00742 by dancook1982, on Flickr  DSC00743 by dancook1982, on Flickr  Yuffie Run - Test Shot by dancook1982, on Flickr  DSC00745 by dancook1982, on Flickr  tomorrow I'll do some street photography in london, but since it's been a while and it's a new camera no promises ! Donzo98 Posted March 9, 2018 Share #104 Â Posted March 9, 2018 (edited) What AF settings were you using?? Â Those look like they are in focus on the dogs face for sure. No?? Edited March 9, 2018 by Donzo98
dancook Posted March 9, 2018 Author Share #105 Â Posted March 9, 2018 What AF settings were you using?? Â I used the lock-on AF, which I'm pretty sure allows you to follow the subject around the frame - but it's not so great for keeping track of the head on a little brown ball of fur. Â I think if I just stuck to standard single point AF since I kept her pretty central anyway.

dancook Posted March 9, 2018 Author Share #107  Posted March 9, 2018 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Happy with the build quality, menus, etc??  It's never going to be as nice as the SL, but I'll make it work it wouldn't put me off buying the system.. Build quality seems nice enough  You have to flick a switch to unlock the card department Slot one is the second one down.. The battery compartment you have to unlock and lock again..  I had to disable the AF Assist Lamp which is actually labelled as the 'Autofocus Illuminator' and it's under the AF1 menu (4/13) not the Focus Assist menu (10/13) ...  It'll just take some getting used to, especially with a more advanced AF system with more options dependent on what you're doing. Donzo98 Posted March 10, 2018 Share #108  Posted March 10, 2018 Can you post a pic side by side of the SL. 24-90, vs 24-70 on the A9?
LD_50 Posted March 10, 2018 Share #109 Â Posted March 10, 2018 Can you post a pic side by side of the SL. 24-90, vs 24-70 on the A9? For what purpose? IQ is not the differentiator between these cameras. The A9 is a more advanced camera. The Leica lens will be better.

They are very similar. You can also check the Sony with 24-70 f/4. Â http://camerasize.com/compact/#724.515,639.496,ha,t
Chaemono Posted March 10, 2018 Share #112  Posted March 10, 2018 ...but it's not so great for keeping track of the head on a little brown ball of fur. They don’t look sharp to me. Heads of little brown balls of fur could be an issue at the fashion show as well.

tonyniev Posted March 10, 2018 Share #114 Â Posted March 10, 2018 Don't let my first fumble with a new camera be a shining example. Â It is a capable sports camera. Â I hope you have made custom button adjustments, I found in my A7R, I had to remove the iso button, adjusting iso thru the menu, in many instances, the iso is changed when I touch the function button, you may want to do same with white balance...I am sure you have also made back button AF, only way to shoot fast ramp models or sports, red carpets and airshows, Â

The AF is ok, look at floor to see, where the sharpest zone is. The dog is running fast, much faster than the women at the catwalk. The blue picture on page 5 is a shame for the used equipment..  The dog example let me rethink the use of AF. I use zone focussing with my manual gear. Manual focus delivered a better keep quoting. Skipping one page back I misinterpreted the picture as a failing AF. The composition is ok. Jan
