That looks like a ligit seller has been hacked, the short times are because the seller knows ebay will shut him down soon.
james.liam Posted August 14, 2017 Share #28 Posted August 14, 2017 Well, the alleged Noctilux and 50 APO each 'sold' for $2700, whilst a second "Noctilux" was suddenly yanked from eBay with 49 seconds remaining on the clock (http://www.ebay.com/itm/202020369600?rmvSB=true)
jaques Posted August 15, 2017 Share #29 Posted August 15, 2017 this has been going on for more than a decade now. Most times a legitimate account is hacked-and many fake listing - all too good to be true- appear. Most times they are copies of past genuine auctions. Generally these scams only involve high value items. Fresh idiots always fall for it- the scams never go away so they must be successful.

fire2368 Posted August 17, 2017 Share #33 Posted August 17, 2017 They ask you to pay through moneygram, they had a 70-180 APO f2.8 for $1000 as well.
enboe Posted August 17, 2017 Share #34 Posted August 17, 2017 I would expect many would be for sale at $1000, payable in U.S. $20 gold pieces, of course.
ECohen Posted August 17, 2017 Share #35 Posted August 17, 2017 Honestly eBay scares me....I wish it didn't.I will happily over pay a bit to buy from people/shops with good reputations. I'm sure a very high percentage of eBay sellers are honest folks with fair prices .....but how do you really know? A $10,500 lens new in box for $1,000 is surely a rip off. A nice used lens that in a Leica Store that goes for $2000 ...... priced by a stranger on eBay at $1200, might be a great deal. How do you really know? And then there is the new Noculux 50mm for $8,050 from a shop in Hong Kong. That sounds too good to be true ......How do you know? Back in 1977 I bought a used Hasselblad lens for $300. cheaper than it should have been .....the lens never showed up....Mail Fraud. That experience has stuck with me to this day. Is man inherently good? Too deep a question to ask before you buy a used lens. How do you all, buy and trade your equipment?I miss the local camera shops. And in turn I buy a lot less used lenses, which keeps me from being a collector. Sometimes I'd like to be a collector :-)
pop Posted August 17, 2017 Share #36 Posted August 17, 2017 ...A $10,500 lens new in box for $1,000 is surely a rip off..... No one is offering a 10.k lens for 1k. It's just the verbiage which is designed to attract victims. The victim is lured into sending 1k to parties unknown. That kind of scam is easily detected even in the cases someone is in doubt whether the goods offered could be for real. The giveaway is the text (often handwritten) that you are not to bid on the item but to submit your bid by mail to an address given in the text. lct Posted August 17, 2017 Share #37 Posted August 17, 2017 [...] How do you all, buy and trade your equipment? [...] If you mean second hand items, i mostly buy to pro dealers on eBay. Only one problem in 15+ years and the problem was solved thanks to the Paypal warranty.
earleygallery Posted August 17, 2017 Share #38 Posted August 17, 2017 Honestly eBay scares me....I wish it didn't.I will happily over pay a bit to buy from people/shops with good reputations. I'm sure a very high percentage of eBay sellers are honest folks with fair prices .....but how do you really know? A lot of people seem to think of ebay as something that it's not. What it is, is an online platform for people to sell stuff and people to buy stuff, not much different from when newspapers and magazines had lots of classified adverts from private individuals. The difference is that people generally bought from people local to them. Now you rely on photos of the items and hopefully an accurate description. But there are still real people behind those ebay items. My procedure is to do the usual due diligence - check ebay history of the seller, feedback, look at recent transactions, check address if shown etc, etc. In addition I will send the seller a question or two. I will also ask about collection in person, even if I have no intention to collect. A refusal to allow collection is a red flag to me, but I know some people don't want strangers turning up on their door, so it will also depend on how they reply, what they say or don't say. If I get any doubtful feelings I pass on the item and look for the next one. These tactics have served me well so far, after many hundreds of ebay transactions.
