I tried one the other day for a short time. All I would say is that it's worth a try. A lot more impressive than what those who have not seen say. Smaller than it seems in pictures and handles well. I would get one if I needed another 50 which I don't.

Changed plans, cancelled the order from Asia and bough it in Vienna (from "Mint & Rare"). Excellent seller.

I got mine some days ago and I already love this lens!

One could buy ten of them, one for each body...

You're wrong.

Unfortunately, and despite all the Chinese expertise, extensive r&d and exhaustive qc that apparently went into creating this thing, so we're told, it seems it does not mount correctly on a Leica M4.

You'll need to wait for the revised version if you want the perfect ten. :D

its not a cientific test, only a simple comparisons between the 50 1.4 Summilux V3 and the A7 1.1

from 1.1 until 2.0

very dificult light condition, (lot wind playing with leaves, changing the light quickly)

Focus with LV and fixed shutter speed adjusted the f/

First Summilux at 1.4

then 7A at 1.1 and 1.4

after again Summilux at 2.0

then 7A at 2.0

The 7A is not getting really sharp in the corners (as others pointed out before, maybe I read this in other places), and it shows in this test shots: Bottom left corner – there the Lux shows some details on the ground at 2.0, while the 7A only starts to show them at 4.0 (and never as sharp as the Lux).

But hey, even to the Lux the price difference is really significant. And one might actually like what the 7A is doing.

I do consider to buy one. When the revised version is available …

i must admit, more dificult to nail the focus with the M8. This dosent happens with my other lens

I agree with you, with the corners problems, i must admit it's a nice lens, perform well for the price. Maybe the next version will be better, Let's see what comes

That surprises me. Can you tell us why/how it does not mount properly?

No, no. Get it while you still can. Its short production run and unique corner mushiness will make the current version a highly collectible item.

I put mine back in the box to help pay for my future grand-grandchildren tuition fees.

Actually, I'm considering buying another one to keep it boxed with the seal unbroken...

Well, the only difference will be the M4-compatibility. I don’t have an M4, but who knows ;-)

Wishful thinking and pathetic.

But you are not alone: some people are still waiting for their M8 to suddenly soar in price.

Because you know, "it's the first digital", "the best black and white machine", "a classic" and whatnot.

And there seems to be a lot of positive propaganda going on in forums in hopes to bring its prices up. But don't be fooled, it's only people wanting to unload their pos M8.

Also, there was an attempt to pseudo-hype the voigtlander 35 f1.2 first version when the second version was announced.

"Buy the first version and don't touch it. It's gonna be a classic and it's going to double...". And it never stopped losong value ever since.

Too many Leica-market experts. They're fun to watch because over time you get to see them lose a lot of money, lose credibility, sometimes they even get out of the leica world, frustrated.

So my advice to you would be that you biy 40 of those bad lenses. At least you'd have an advantage: you'd control the market, somewhat. You could control rarity and maybe make 35$ extra apiece. But that would take you a few years.
