Ozytripper Posted July 18, 2017 Share #1521 Posted July 18, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Have my name and money down at a couple of dealers in melbourne. Told supply late August so just need a bit of patience. Yes, I am after a silver but strangely enough I am told by dealers here that black is currently easier to obtain. have you tried the Camera Exchange in Box Hill? Thier websites say M10 stocks available. Good luck
Advertisement Posted July 18, 2017 Posted July 18, 2017 Hi Ozytripper, Take a look here Availability?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
rocky dennis Posted July 18, 2017 Share #1522 Posted July 18, 2017 Hello, First post here. For those looking for a silver M10 in the US, one is available here: http://www.kenmorecamera.com/p-50733-leica-m10-silver-chrome-body.aspx They also had a black M10 in stock over the weekend, but not anymore. It's on its way to me This will be my first digital M. After using a couple of M6s for film, I just wasn't enticed by any of the digital M offerings, until now (went with Fujifilm for digital). I'm really excited about getting the M10 and entering the Leica digital world. Cheers! rocky

waterman1 Posted July 18, 2017 Share #1524 Posted July 18, 2017 I was at OC Camera in Orange County at noon and was told that a new M10 had just arrived.
JulianHalliday Posted July 19, 2017 Share #1525 Posted July 19, 2017 My sincere thanks to waterman1! I called OC Camera (my very first call to anyone in quest of an M10) and was told that they had one black body on hand. Note for those on wait-lists: answer the call when it comes! The guy at OC muttered darkly that he'd been calling people for days "and I want to get rid of this thing." It should be on its way to me today -- and I'm only slightly disheartened by paying the new price and for 2-day shipping, since I'm giving up my (original price/free shipping) position on the B+H wait-list. I'll believe this camera when I see it, but I confess I'm excited to think I'll actually get to see the bloody thing at last!

Worth paying a little more to get the camera right away in my opinion. The M10 is pretty awesome.
mhicks Posted July 20, 2017 Share #1527 Posted July 20, 2017 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) If you live in the U.S. this looks like a reasonable deal to me. While I don't have connections to the dealer I did buy my M10 from there and found the quality of service to be fantastic. Happy shopping and thank me later! waterman1 Posted July 20, 2017 Share #1528 Posted July 20, 2017 (edited) Julian, Glad you followed up with OC Camera. I sold my SL and Zoom and got the M10 and have begun shooting with the Fuji XT2 and was there buying a Fuji lens. Told him my M10 is for pleasure and the Fuji is for work. Than he says, we have a M10 in stock and the same thing about people not returning his calls, "I will sell it to the first person that calls" I told him that I will post and someone will buy in by the end of the day. That one sold but they have another with a tri-elmar. I was very interested in the one that included a 28 cron.
emichelmd Posted July 20, 2017 Share #1530 Posted July 20, 2017 30 years after I sold my M6 I am back to the Leica family. Just got my M10 after being on 3 waiting lists since mid January. Thank you to rocky for the info on kenmore camera. They still had it when I called and I just got my hands on it. Beautiful camera and I hope I will enjoy it for many years. S.Rolf Posted July 20, 2017 Share #1531 Posted July 20, 2017 I don't understand how a major distributor of Leica like B&H are not getting their orders filled. You'd think Leica would want to "take care" of those heavy hitters first. Has ANYBODY received an order from B&H recently? I keep getting the "Unfortunately.............." canned reply from the Live Chat sessions.

I keep getting the "Unfortunately.............." canned reply from the Live Chat sessions. Leica seems to have made a conscious decision cut out the big dealers like B&H and Adorama and only ship to their own boutiques and certain small independents. Everything I've read suggests they're selling them as fast as they can make them. They probably figured it was better to spread them around as widely as possible, rather than let the big shops hog the limited quantities of the M10 for themselves. I placed an order for a black M10 with Adorama on Jan. 19th, hoping I'd have it in time for a trip to Italy in May. No luck. I wound up cancelling. I'm finally ready to buy an M10 again and am regularly checking certain small dealers on the west coast and my local Leica store. The M10s seem to finally be trickling in with more regularity, so I'm hopeful I'll have one soon. But I'm not going to order through Adorama or B&H again. They still aren't getting any M10s as far as I can tell. Edited July 20, 2017 by NDOC

Bill - Give them a call anyway. You may be able to convince them to give you the camera and a different lens - at a different price, of course. Never hurts to ask!

Leica does not only makes the M10 and also needs to sell their other lines as well. Stores like B&H, IMO, keeps Leica a-float by selling their lenses, other bodies and accessories. To piss off a customer like that would be professional suicide. So much for logic. Your point is probably more accurate. acolite Posted July 20, 2017 Share #1535 Posted July 20, 2017 So I contacted popflash photo and inquired about their current wait times for a Leica M10 at the beginning of July. There was 5 orders ahead of me, 4 for black and one for silver. They said it would be about 2 to 3 months for black and 1 to 2 for silver. I wasn't in a huge rush and I've dealt with them before, so I didn't mind waiting. I put in an order on the 11th for a M10 black. One silver was received on the 14th, which bumped me up one position overall. Just received an email today, that their allocation of the cameras are all being filled, so they are getting 5 black M10s for all their current orders, including mine. I was really surprised to hear this. They said my camera should be shipping out Monday or Tuesday at the latest! I'm really excited and can't wait to get my hands on it!

I can only assume that their production is not up to the demand for the M10, so they made a choice to help the little retailers before the big guys, who will do well in any case. And of course they show preference to the Leica Stores, which is only to be expected. But even they are constrained by the M10's limited availability. Time will only tell whether Leica's strategy was a good idea or will wind up backfiring on them. It would be interesting to talk to someone in Leica corporate about why they chose this approach. One person ahead of me, passed a black M10 in favor of silver, and another person isn't ready to receive theirs because they are travelling. Which bumped me up to second spot on the waiting list for a Black M10. I apparently just got very lucky!
MarkD Posted July 21, 2017 Share #1538 Posted July 21, 2017 (edited) I am no longer able to edit the M10 Availability Tracker. Currently my entry is Row 51 (that seems to change though). Could someone edit my Date Received field? Replace contents with: On July 20th, Leica Store Miami informed me that they will have a black M10 on July 24, 2017 to ship to me. Thanks, MarkD Edited July 21, 2017 by MarkD
Magic Posted July 21, 2017 Share #1539 Posted July 21, 2017 Could it be possible that the big players like B&H demand better conditions from Leica and therefore Leica delivers more cameras to smaller dealers ?
rodders Posted July 21, 2017 Share #1540 Posted July 21, 2017 Well i dropped my deposit two weeks ago and was told end of August/ start of September - maybe. Been acquiring lenses and a few accessories. Also received a beautiful tie her up strap during the week from Cyprus. Just finished with a client this afternoon and had a call from Digidirect Melbourne - said my silver thumb grip in. Then he said so is the camera!!! Ran out of the office the short distance to store and now have my first Leica - very excited. Best of all, I was able to negotiate price on everything including the camera prior - they happily knocked $500 of rrp. I highly recommend them if in Australia. I dealt with a great guy called Kevin who was almost as excited as I was. I know this sounds like an ad, I have nothing to do with them except a customer that got good service. Looking forward to now learning how to capture some great shots. Welcome, dear visitor!
