Popular Post farnz Posted March 17, 2013 Author Popular Post Share #1001 Posted March 17, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) As the original poster, I'd like to mark the 1,000th post in this thread and in particular thank everyone who has very kindly made the time and effort to post their pictures and also to thank those who have viewed the thread (48,270 at the time of writing). The thread has gone far beyond what I'd expected (hoped?) when I started it and has shown me and taught me so much about what older lenses can do and the real value that is stored in them. In particular I think that the thread clearly demonstrates the different look that different lenses can offer and that experimentation with all sorts of lenses can produce wonderful results. Please don't stop posting because amongst its many pages this thread contains an invaluable resource for current and future use. For example, I often look back through its pages for examples from certain lenses when G.A.S. strikes and whispers in my ear that I should acquire this or that lens. Once again thank you to everyone who has contributed! Pete.

farnz Posted March 17, 2013 Author Share #1003 Posted March 17, 2013 Stephen, Thanks for pointing it out but the count on the sub forum page is the number of replies, which when added to my original post makes the tally correct. Pete.

zeitz Posted March 19, 2013 Share #1012 Posted March 19, 2013 Jeffo, Do you have more pictures from the Astro Berlin Pan Tachar? Astro lenses have great reputations, but pictures taken with them are so rare, it is hard to tell if the reputation is justified. I have a 150mm f2.3 Astro Portrait with an Identoscope. But is doesn't mount on any camera I own, so I've never been able to take pictures with it. Zeitz

Dan Bachmann Posted March 19, 2013 Share #1020 Posted March 19, 2013 I hope this is allowed here... I took this shot in a studio and added some background effects in PhotoShop while increasing the contrast. I've not seen much use of studio or PhotoShop on this forum and feel almost guilty doing so - it seems so un-Leica. But the Leica works great for me here too. This old lens from the 1930s behaves extremely different in the studio with the light bouncing off the paper and the way it lightens areas and selectively smooths out areas with the low contrast due to a global flare.
