Leica III & Hektor 28mm f6.3 Uncoated | Lomo 800

There’s not a lot of info around this lens online or in the forums, and the few info available does not seem to do justice to this awesome lens. So let me share my thoughts here after using this lens for a month with some pictures included.

In some old-ish forum posts people said that the Summaron is much sharper and a much better lens, but to be honest I don’t see it. I’ve used both and while I do also love the Summaron, the Hektor (mine is clean, no scratches / haze btw) is half the size of the Summaron, making it truly the most compact 28mm available for ltm, and it has such a sharp and beautiful rendering as well and the vignetting is natural and just the right amount. Also, despite my best tries to make it flare, there were only two instances in which it actually did flare (I will include one of those shots here) & I was surprised that it faired actually quite well even when shooting against the sun; I’d rate it as good as the Summaron in terms of flare suppression (I’m not using a hood).

All in all, it’s a lens I wasn’t expecting much based on what I had read online but that I grew to love  both in terms of rendering and handling; It’s a keeper! :)

Anyway enough talk, here are the shots!

Two more tourist shots. It won't be visible here, but the resolution of this camera/lens combination is quite impressive.
