Even more conjecturing....  When some member is banned (it does happen, unfortunately), isn´t his/her posts deleted too?  If so, that would explain the discrepancy.

I was looking back through this thread, as I do from time to time to extract a second 'hit' from the wonderful pictures here, only to find that my post memorialising the thread's 10,000th post and thanking everyone for their kind participation and contributions has inexplicably moved to post #9991 on page #500, which is a little 'previous' and disappointing.

I assume that this is a result of some indexing algorithm but it means that if anyone, as I have, has recorded the post numbers of particular posts they wish to return to in the future will probably not be able to locate them, which is infuriating.  Doubtless all for the sake of "progress" or is my 'cynicism slip' showing?

Has anyone noticed this happening elsewhere on the forum?

Pete.

I can think of at least one member here who seems to have recently deleted all of his posts or alternatively been banned/ suspended in some shape or form so I assume, as others have alluded, that this would have some sort of effect on the post numbers?

Yes, I think so. My smiling bin was the first post on page 200 of the nifty fifties thread. Now it is on page 197. Anyway, we remember the old days with the Summarit f=5cm 1:1,5 / M10

Nikon 105mm f2.5 + extension tubes + adapter on a Leica M10-P. This set up might not be for everyone since it's heavy, long and just looks odd but it works for my paid portrait work. Flawless for film as well. Tested on my daughter since I can't post most of my paid work. Funny enough, I reach for this lens over my 90mm 2.5 Summarit most of the time.

I missed focus but that's par for the course when shooting this long a lens handheld and in low light.
