Is HP5 a very grainy film stock or is it me just not being used to film yet?;):)

It's a 400° ISO therefore a certain degree of granularity (or is it granulosity?) should be expected, however much depending from the developer. Which one did you use?

Cheers,

Bruno

I used Paterson AcuLux.

If memory serves me well the Aculux should produce fine grain and slightly increase the film sensitivity. I obtained results similar to yours with the canonical D-76, so I'd say that it's all right. Actually in my film heydays I used to appreciate a stronger granulosity.

It's just that film and digital are different beasts. I'd dare to say that in terms of granulosity 400° ISO on film is tantamount to no less than 1000° on digital.

Cheers,

Bruno
