hoppyman Posted September 24, 2016 Share #21 Posted September 24, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) ...or bring along some nice toys for us to play with :-) Mark, anything is possible! We can invite their product specialist who is a shooter himself, at the very least. First part of the challenge is which Leica I should bring. Then consider that this city is Erl's home turf that he has prowled many times. I have been enough to know a bit of the city, but just handcuff yourself to Erl for visiting the best locations
Advertisement Posted September 24, 2016 Posted September 24, 2016 Hi hoppyman, Take a look here AUSTRALASIAN ONE CHALLENGE - Advance Notice. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
erl Posted September 24, 2016 Author Share #22 Posted September 24, 2016 Geoff, your observation about the "home city" may appear true at first thought, but I have seen enough, both at home and abroad to realize that "fresh eyes" frequently have the advantage. I think the playing field will be pretty level! On the other matter of "toys" etc, I'm a bit out of touch. Who and how would be an appropriate invitee from Leica? MarkP Posted September 25, 2016 Share #23 Posted September 25, 2016 First part of the challenge is which Leica I should bring. I'll bring just one camera and two lenses so I can concentrate on subject rather than gear...well at least that's the plan ;-)
pop Posted September 25, 2016 Share #24 Posted September 25, 2016 The terms of the ONE CHALLENGE allow you the use of one lens, one camera, one film only. Of course, you are entirely free to use as many lenses and cameras and films before and after the challenge.

Yes it's the same here, Ted. About £1,200 for a direct return flight and 22 hours each way. There are probably cheaper ways to do it but my days of 14 stop overs and sleeping on airport terminal floors are over. Pete.
MarkP Posted September 25, 2016 Share #28 Posted September 25, 2016 The terms of the ONE CHALLENGE allow you the use of one lens, one camera, one film only. Of course, you are entirely free to use as many lenses and cameras and films before and after the challenge. Thanks for clarifying that. As I live in the Antipodes and had never been to a Challenge I didn't know. M7, lens and film to be advised.

satijntje Posted September 26, 2016 Share #37 Posted September 26, 2016 Dear John, thanks for organising this event! I cannot make a 100% commitment at this stage, but I'm considering it seriously to join. Will let you know as soon as I know! John p.s. it would be interesting to know when most of you will be there. If confirmed, I should arrive in Melbourne on April 6th and leave again on the 11th. Other cities that will be visited migth be interesting to know as well! farnz Posted September 26, 2016 Share #38 Posted September 26, 2016 John, I plan to fly in a few days or perhaps a week in advance because it always takes me at least 4 or 5 days to get over jet lag and resume normal functions when I fly to New Zealand, which is not far away. Some say the degree of jet lag depends on which way you fly (with the sun or against it). But I expect you already know how jet lag affects you from all the flying that you do. Pete. MarkP Posted September 26, 2016 Share #39 Posted September 26, 2016 Erl, at this rate we should ask for sponsorship from the Victorian Government for the huge increase tourism this event will certainly bring to the city of Melbourne and thus help the Victorian economy. Can't you see the bidding war between the NSW and VIC premiers to secure the event. Reminiscent of the Grand Prix, but then we have the Mardi Gras ;-) Mark
andybarton Posted September 26, 2016 Share #40 Posted September 26, 2016 Just to be clear, you do not need to use film. All the rules are in the link that I gave to the Lisbon Challenge
