The Main Range and the valley of the Snowy River in Summer, taken from the lookout at Charlotte Pass. Almost everyone takes this same shot before ascending or descending on one of the walking trails, but usually in colour.

There are some wonderfully evocative images here - thanks to all for posting.

A quick snap of a developing storm in the Australian Alps in summer.  You need to get out of the way of these before the air starts to sizzle - a dangerous precursor to a lightning strike!  The trees are bare from a big fire a few years ago.

Dee,

great capture and most convincing in b&w, because a color version would distract from the main issue of the strcuture of the land and the texture of the different elements. The öayer of puffy clouds is adding much here.

David,

the colour, and patchy light through the clouds and on the land in the Blindman photo is beautiful (had to look up where it was though).

Les,

very nice. Thanks of joining in. Keep them coming.

Dee,

all excellent photographs as always.

I particularly like the desaturated colours of the loading ramp photo.

Are you still missing the Noctilux? Does the APO-50 cut it on the M9?

Hi Mark,

Love your Shoalhaven shot above with the resident cows adding a touch of humour, it has really captured the ambience of the south coast (in fact both images have).

In answer to your (technical) question, the only time I ever experience a twinge of nostalgia for the Noctilux is when I look at past images taken with it. It was a

beautiful lens to own, and finances permitting, I would have kept it...but it went to pay for the MM and I have not regretted that decision.

I really can't tell you if the APO 50 cuts it on the M9 as I have to admit it has never been off the MM....I know it's a bit odd, but I am positively allergic to changing lenses,

and always have been, (I once owned no less than five R4s for that reason)....

Les,

Your Australian Alps image is lovely, the colours are perfect and you have captured that misty, smoky look that the mountains have in summer.

This last autumn I was trying to find a good day to get up to Dead Horse Gap to photograph the fire affected trees above Thredbo, but

then it snowed early.....now I must get going, your image is good motivation!

Dee.

Some very familiar locations in amongst these landscapes. I shall unearth some images to contribute. I haven't shot much landscape stuff for a while.
This is at Wilpena Pound in South Australia. Facing opposite the sunrise. There's a selfie in there too!

going back a number of years here. BW conversion, M8 and Summicron M 28 ASPH. I must have actually geotagged the image on Google at some point. This is north of the Sunshine Coast up towards Hervey Bay in QLD.

As it really was (at a family holiday). They didn't catch much in that estuary though!
