LocalHero1953 Posted October 15, 2015 Share #1641 Posted October 15, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Except Leica has never offered a pixel remapping utility so why should anyone assume they would make a rangefinder calibration utility available to the consumer? More likely it would simply remove any ability to calibrate the RF without sending the camera in for a lengthy period of sitting on the shelf. Sure. One can but hope. And, of course, just because they've never taken that approach does not mean they never will.
Advertisement Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Hi LocalHero1953, Take a look here NEW M.. This year.. This Fall.... I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
lct Posted October 15, 2015 Share #1642 Posted October 15, 2015 No softer than they are on an M body. I wish i were wrong but i can hardly see how a sensor designed for T or whatever lenses can give as good results with M lenses as a sensor designed for the latters, especially with wides. There remains the hope that the Leica's sensor will be better than the Sony's but there is no free lunch as i said sorry...
jdlaing Posted October 15, 2015 Share #1643 Posted October 15, 2015 What makes you think a sensor designed for a Leica camera, no matter which one, would not treat Leica lenses better than Sony? I give Leica a little more credit than that.
mjh Posted October 15, 2015 Share #1644 Posted October 15, 2015 I wish i were wrong but i can hardly see how a sensor designed for T or whatever lenses can give as good results with M lenses as a sensor designed for the latters, especially with wides. The sensor of the M (Typ 240) was designed to accommodate a wide variety of incident angles – like both M and R lenses – so Leica knows how to deal with this. jonoslack Posted October 15, 2015 Share #1648 Posted October 15, 2015 I’m having a lot of fun anyway. “Fun, fun, fun till her daddy takes the t-bird away” – which will be on 20 October. Me too . . .there is not much more joyful . ..

Logical indeed . . . but there is another aspect, which is that Sony couldn't care less whether their cameras work with M lenses, whereas one might imagine that Leica do care? Let's hope so. mjh Posted October 15, 2015 Share #1650 Posted October 15, 2015 You've been at the sensor cleaning fluid again, haven't you Michael? Single Malt more like, but no, my recent penchant for quotes from pop songs must be related to what’s been on my mind, namely which musicians/singers will be attending the 20 October event. Leica’s taste in music not always coincides with mine.
AndreasAM Posted October 15, 2015 Share #1651 Posted October 15, 2015 "to set the cat among the pigeons" Does the reappearance of ..... the Leica-patent for the ORF in LeicaRumors ( under NDA remember), the Pana-focus system of the Q, Micheal (MJH) not commenting on the RF for M-thread, the discussions here and other forums where the SL seems to be able to adapt to many existing lenses (M,R, C/N, etc.) including the speculation that the SL has a new infocus system, the statement of Leica that there will be a new 'professional' era in taking pictures......bears any causal relationship? I just keep wondering ( till the 20th)......
IkarusJohn Posted October 15, 2015 Share #1652 Posted October 15, 2015 Now there's a thought. Which musician would you like to see associated with the new camera? I would suggest some one very hip, with impeccable musical pedigree, stylish, sophisticated, independent, but not necessarily mainstream - has to have an interest in photography, I guess (no idea about that one). Chris Martin from Coldplay? Damon Allbarn? Ed Sheeran? James Blake? or someone older, like Elvis Costello, or Keith Jarrett, Leonard Cohen ... Who would you pick?
