StrawberryJam Posted March 6, 2015 Share #1 Posted March 6, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I left my Leica strap at home by mistake. Can I safely use my old Op/tech strap from another DSLR I have without much risk? It's strap ends are the thin "cloth" ribbon type:
Advertisement Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Hi StrawberryJam, Take a look here Strap for M240. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
ayewing Posted March 6, 2015 Share #2 Posted March 6, 2015 If your DSLR was as heavy as your Leica M + lens you should be OK though it would be worth checking the Optech strap for signs of wear.
boliston Posted March 6, 2015 Share #3 Posted March 6, 2015 i prefer straps that use the tripod mount eg blackrapid rather than the standard leica branded strap - the lugs are very narrow to accommodate the thin wire eyelets on a leica strap
MarkD Posted March 7, 2015 Share #4 Posted March 7, 2015 Your photo is showing the Mini QD Loop which OpTech came out with a few years ago for small cameras and binoculars. However, OpTech says they are rated (I assume the 1.5mm dia. loop version) for 44 pounds and looks as strong as Gordy straps' string, but I would test the Mini Loop for pull-out strength before using on an expensive camera. StrawberryJam Posted March 9, 2015 Author Share #5 Posted March 9, 2015 Thank you for the great advice everyone. I opted for a new strap instead for now - it's comfy enough slung over my hooded parka but not sure how it will do during the hot summer months. Time will tell. These are my favorite, although I wimp out and use plain black.
Herr Barnack Posted March 11, 2015 Share #7 Posted March 11, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) i prefer straps that use the tripod mount eg blackrapid rather than the standard leica branded strap - the lugs are very narrow to accommodate the thin wire eyelets on a leica strap I have switched to BlackRapid, too. They are very reliable in their design and are extremely sturdy. I had previously used the Domke web straps on all my cameras for 12+ years. Never once had a strap failure or dropped camera with one of these.

piblondin Posted March 12, 2015 Share #10 Posted March 12, 2015 I'm partial to the Leica strap for the following reasons: 1. It's lightweight and packs up well in a small case. 2. It's pretty plain looking and not flashy. 3. I've never had any issues with its slipping on my shoulder, which is where I wear it. But I would love to hear other suggestions that meet that criteria!
tookaphotoof Posted March 12, 2015 Share #11 Posted March 12, 2015 Recently ordered a couple of Artisan Artist slider straps. I like the way how easy I can change the length of it.

Echo63 Posted March 17, 2015 Share #14 Posted March 17, 2015 Recently ordered a couple of Artisan Artist slider straps. I like the way how easy I can change the length of it. I built my own version - using the stock strap connectors I have a similar one on my X100 too Love being able to easily adjust where the camera sits, higher so it doesnt hit stuff on my belt, and quickly extend to actually shoot with. mr_big Posted March 17, 2015 Share #15 Posted March 17, 2015 I never thought I'd ever get a red strap, but I picked up an Artisan and Artist slider and I think it's great.
Flyfisherman Posted March 17, 2015 Share #16 Posted March 17, 2015 Has anyone use Luigi's Essential straps? I love the no metal parts concept but do u think it will really take the weight of the M240?
tookaphotoof Posted March 17, 2015 Share #17 Posted March 17, 2015 Used the same type from Barton. Had no problems only that I found it a pain to remove once in a while.

Enbee Posted March 24, 2015 Share #19 Posted March 24, 2015 I may try this one. Looks great - maybe not red - but black!
LeicaFFM Posted March 24, 2015 Share #20 Posted March 24, 2015 I may try this one. Looks great - maybe not red - but black! I own the black one. It is the best strap I ever had!
